				| Sun Aug 19, 18 10:56 am    Honeymoon kiteboarding destination in September? | |
				|
 |
				| My soon to be hubby and I are looking for honeymoon destinations where we can Kiteboard most days. Ideally we’d like to go somewhere in the Caribbean (although are wary of hurricane season). It would be early September next year. Any advice is much appreciated!

				| If you're willing to spend an entire day in travel each way.... Brazil. I purchased the cheapest flights and wish I'd splurged as it was almost 32 hours door to destination. _________________

				| Brazil is the call for September October. And going for a multi-day downwinder tour from Fortaleza to Jeri would be the best option.
Getting the Visa for Brasil can be time consuming and expensive. Check into it asap if you are serious about going there. It has been a barrier to my trips on at least two occasions.

				| To tell you the truth I had a very different activity on my mind than kiteboarding when my wife and I were leaving for our honeymoon and we didn't really care where we were going. But that's just me, the extremely heterosexual male. | |

				| Tarifa Spain Besides world class wind and beaches there is lots of old Spanish architecture.
Spain just rocks, the entire country is supper cool. Look on google for the old town and photo's and then look into the wind, its windy there, as good as Brazil. Other locations like Brazil are a third world and might not been perfect for romance.

If you look at the southern Caribbean, you will find that the chances of a Hurricane will go way down. I went to Tobago on my honeymoon in early September for this very reason. I do not know the windy season in that region though,

Even if my wife did kite, I think I would just leave the kites at home for my honeymoon.

				| There's a great guide book - The World Kite and Windsurfing guide. They list each spot and the chances of wind by the month.
All of the Caribbean is a thumbs down for September. It's the least windy month of the year.

you should get a copy of this book - it's awesome!

				| While I've never kited in the vicinity, I would not take my new bride to Fortaleza on my honeymoon. It's gnarly! Rats, raw sewage running into the surf spot downtown, amputee beggars on every corner, hookers/scammers/thieves/etc at every turn, and a level of poverty that rivals anything I've seen anywhere.
 Take your lady someplace nice!

				| Am I missing something here... Because all my research says go to Brasil in September/October. And frankly that has been what I have been planning for. I know they have a long six month season but supposedly these two months are the best. Or should it be Nov/Dec??
Lets hear from some more experienced kitesurfers with brasil experience. When are the best two months to target for an epic trip there.

				| Maui or Tarifa. Water is warmer in Maui. Many more kiting spots in Spain and Portugal (which you should consider if you’re there). Food is better in Spain. Lots more to explore in Tarifa. _________________

I was in Iterema for an entire 30 days in 2013 and it blew 24/7 the entire time at 8m. I could've traveled with one kite. November 10 to December 10. I remember walking out on the beach at 2am.... still 8m.

Never been to Brazil - but if you're from the NW - september and october are great here in the NW.
No reason to be in the NW in November (cold, rainy) so we always take kite trips in November.

What conditions are you looking for? Chop, flat water, or waves? What you and your soon to be hubby ride on? Foil, TT, skim, surfboard?
