Mellow Viento to Sandbar downwinder Sat
Not so mellow Newport Surf Session Sun
Poleboarding friend forced me to leave sun and wind in the hood to trek to Newport.
Highlights - watching the coast cutter rock up and down 20 feet escorting a shrimper a mile out - and not eating death.
Some pics (the six kites of the day - were done by the time I broke out the camera - sand was scouring my eyeballs on the jetty - crazy venturi effect on the jetty - getting reading of 38 but was pumping my 7m at times to keep from getting collected - fun day)

Damn, even though the water looks crazy those waves look pretty nicely formed. Do the waves look like that normally at Newport?
I've never been but I'd like to go do some wave riding on the Oregon coast where the waves don't stand-up and eat you without notice... Like Roads End in Lincoln City...
Any other recommendations besides Newport?

Its the Jetty that makes them clean, blocks the wind so they don't get blown out so easy. Check out the pic below with waves above the jetty and below the jetty.
There's more Jetty's besides just Florence, Newport, and Ft. Stevens... it'd be cool to tour them all one week.

Have to follow up with a few pics that Tony Rodriquez shot yesterday of CrazyC and I at Manzo. It blew me off my 12 and Tony off his 13 so Carl let us fly his new 9m Ocean Rodeo while he set up his old skool 9m Ocean Rodeo and ripped it a new one. It was soo sweeet. Great kiting weekend. Figured it was blowin 25+. Glorious! Sorry we missed you Gman! Great day saturday too!
PS saw a 4-5 SHARK! Don't know what kind--don't want to know. The fin was about 5-7" so I imagine the beast was about 5 feet.? A little scary.!
