Sat Jun 23, 18 8:15 pm Foil Mast location? |

Thanks you guys, watching you all foil kite the gorge has forced me to by a setup. I went with the slingshot line up. My question is where do you put the mast when screwing it onto the board. I heard putting it all the way back when u first start then move it a inch forward when ready. What is the ideal spot for it and does it really effect it moving it around? Can't wait to start this new sport. Thanks for any input given! |

Moving mast makes a big difference. To start try moving the plate all the way back. Your body should be centered over the front wing. Your feet will be about 1.5 shoulder width apart equal distance from the center of the front wing.
You will learn much faster if you use the progressive mast length set:15/24/30”. Buy new, or used. Learn on them then sell them to the next learner in line. |

Thanks, saw it in the alien air board section of the video. He states start with the furthest back setting through the flight mast school and even on to the full length mast. He said moving the mast up increases speed and control. Does anyone ride with it all the way forward? |

Seems to me it only matters if you are riding with straps or foot hooks. If not you just move your feet to work wherever the mast is? |

Yes and no.
No, it's a balance point and with no straps you can move feet to proper spots.
Yes, with strap(s), of course, but even strapless it's nice to have some scooped nose in front of you for touchdowns. |

I have a slingshot foil board with the rail system and the markings from 0-10 cm 0 = base plate all the way back, 10 = all the way forward. I started all the way back at 0 and once I got the hang of things I moved to 3. I ride with hooks and setting the mast at 3 positions my rear foot directly over the center of the mast. Is there benefit to continuing to move the mast forward? Is there an "ideal" position or is the adjustment more for preferred stance and weight distribution? |
