I'm going on a trip to a warm water location soon and it looks like the surf is going to be pretty small. I have a first generation liquid force foil, wondering if anyone has experience foilsurfing with them in small surf... Tips? Tricks?

you would want to use a 24in mast or something around that. Might work decent

Surfing specific foils have far larger front wings than kiting foils because it is necessary to generate more lift at slower speeds. Haven't attempted surf foiling in big waves, but the kiting foils may work there since board speed is greater.

Very Happy

Word from some of the foilers over in Hawaii is that people were using the original LF foil on their SUPs for foiling and found it do-able, but I cannot imagine that it was very easy.
As Windian commented, kite foils require higher speeds for foiling.
Out of many of the foils, the original LF foil does rise at one of the lower flying speed thresholds, so it is a decent candidate. But, as I mentioned above, it probably takes a lot of talent and the right SUP or Surfboard platform (and some good foiling and surfing skills)
