Noob question.
Has anyone tried flying a cabrinha switchblade with a compstick?
I have a 9m 2016 switch and was thinking of using my 17" compstick with 20m lines with it.
I would appreciate any guidance. |

Both 4 lines equal at full power, low V, single front line safety will work fine
might need to use pigtails to match "kook-proof" ends, not sure but you might want to use pigtails anyway for wear and tear issues. |

I was thinking with shorter lines I could use the 9m switch in stronger winds. |

| Does anyone do the reverse (newer cabrinha bars with slingshot kites?) Also it seems like the bar throw length may be different on the kites. It probably can be compensated for using the stopper on the compstick or the stopper on the newer cabrinha bars with "trimlite". |

I have flown a 7 mtr. drifter on both a naish short line bar, works great. 12mtr. lines
I have also flown the 9mtr. Switchblade on a 17" SS bar. Everything works fine.
*I love slingshot bars. Very clean, very tough, below the bar safety and O.S. Loops with velcro stickys to keep it clean. I like the spinner as well, just make sure to rinse it off if sandy. I've had to put a bit of graphite in mine to keep it smooth.
**I think the mistake that some newbs make is to use a an older bar with lots of shit above the bar. This clutter is hard to deal with and isn't a problem on most newer bars.

Kind of works that way but only a bit. Shorter lines don't change the power in the kite whether still in the air or moving through the air. What it changes is the size of the wind window so the kite can not fly as far across so it will pull for a shorter time and reach the edge sooner. So it might feel like there is a bit less pull(power) but getting hit by a gust on an already lit 9m is still the same so don't get fooled and think you can go in much higher winds. If that was what you were asking? |
