Those of you who made it out.... let's hear about the sandbar...

from the camera, it looks like the sandbar has grown/migrated to cover over 1/2 of the event site... is the camera tricking me?

*EDIT...lol... i just checked, water level is down.... i would say 60% of the Event Site is blocked by our excellent sand bar.... must be Karma...

I think its mostly the angle, though it does look like its a little bigger at the top. Here's the other cam:

I rode HR yesterday and the SB was not as big as it has been. You could still walk over from the Event Stie, but the outer sandbar stopped right about at the eastern edge of the even site and that was just a sliver.

Monkeyboy is correct.

The water levels are actually starting to get back to normal.
(most of the big sandbar images resulted from a low water level this late winter)

By mid-April we should see the water levels likely jump up to what they were last year (that being a bit higher than previous 'normal' years).

It all depends on what the Spring runoff will bring us, but at this years normal water level, the Sandbar is likely to look a lot like what we had over the weekend (small sandbar, but lots of very shallow water and debris).

Start saving up your liquid laundry soap bottles and we'll get some marine rope and tie them up. Most of the small branches that are submersed are pretty soggy and malleable. It won't be pleasant if you were to landed one, but I think you'd be ok.

i think the important one is the huge log that comes out about 20 yards east of the red bouy but a couple hundred yards closer to the event side

a couple of us were just talking about that log before the buoy last night.

If it is a solid as it looks.. all we need to do is screw in some large eye bolt lags and we have a perfect, easy clip anchor point for the kicker or slider.

Out of the eventsite no fun zone (which right now is really fun!) and launch area and marking a dangerous log hazard with an easy to see (and fun to hit) park feature, such as a kicker, which people are already used to identifying and avoiding.

Maybe we should, as an earlier post suggested, think very carefully about 'kiter friendly' shaped buoys to mark the edges of the different areas.

We could have an A=frame 'buoy' a kicker 'buoy' maybe a beginner friendly pyramid 'deathstar buoy'

State Marine Board and Marine "Sheriff" is already working on this with the port and Division of State Lands. The major debrie areas are going to noted on the signs that CGKA & CGWA are proposing.

You might want to speak with them (State Marine Board) before you actually "hook" anything to or make plans to "hook" anything like a "kicker"to this stuff. Believe it or not that "stuff" is considered fish habitate and pretty much off limits except to fish and mother nature.
