Not sure why but it reminded me of teleboarding.

But I think I'll try a "noboard" (strapless snowboard) first...

Here is a fun edit from someone in Canada. He's making it work!

We have been riding strapless snow skates for over 5 years. They work great. They would be great for racing. They go upwind better than anything else. The wide nose with the narrow tail is key. Keeps the nose up and make it turn well. The ones in the link are killer.

They work great at the ski area too.

I made snow skate a couple seasons back when the HR marina sandbar was covered with snow. took a kid's snowboard, made some risers and attached an old beat up wake skate to it. feels a lot like riding a skim board. having the wakeskate with its larger foot print makes jumping on it easy and the risers keep it high enough from catching the rail
on flat land, they are great. you might want to use a leash if you take them up on a hill. gave brad a good show when I did a toeside turn up on mt st helens and skate came out from under me and must have dropped a couple thousand feet in elevation Embarassed

Now if someone would devise a board that would slip over sand it would open up a huge new landscape for our kites.
