On quad surfboards do you put the big fins in front or in back?

front
this is not exactly true but think of it as if you had a thruster with all fins the same size and the 2 front fins of the quad are the same as the front 2 fins of the thruster. then take the single rear fin of the thruster and split it in 2 and move them out to the sides. To keep the surface area about the same, the 2 rear fins need to be smaller. there is a lot more to it than that but it sort of make simple sense Very Happy

Big fins up front, flat side in (if you have a flat side).

Have an Airush Sector that is such a squirrelly jyber with its 20cm mondo fins that I'm converting it to a conventional quad setup. Lots of quad setup pics on the interwebs about 50/50 big fins in back. Also have a Slingshot Dialer that I bought second hand with the big fins back. So, please excuse dumb questions.

Most quad fin windsurfing boards are set up with the big fins in the rear.
Since the Sector is halfway between a windsurfer and a kite surfboard, I would try four equal size fins.

I bought the mini-tuttle to FCS adapters and put four equal fins on my Sector V2 - worked pretty good.

Have fun

maybe she is south of the equator where some things go the other way?

Priceless...

Reminds me of people who stand around "tinkering" with things or take a really long time while trying to get a glimpse of whats going on..

oh wait... that's me.
