Headed to La Ventana in December for a week. Flying into Cabo. Any suggestions for a car rental?

The search function on the top part of this page works wonders. Plenty of posts on this subject, just got to put some effort into it.

FYI, plenty of car rental businesses at the airport.

I'll second Cactus I've been using them for years. The last few seem as though the rates have gone up some.

I reached out to Cactus last year and got a quote for $1500 for 41 days.

I ended up using Hertz (I got a coupon off Ebay and booked directly through Hertz). Whole thing cost me under $800 for 41 days.

I did have some challenges though. When I got to the counter, the local hertz company could not book for more than 30 days (even though I had a confirmation that showed 41 days directly from Hertz). I ended up having to split up my rental into two separate agreements. I also had to drive all the way back to SJD to renew my second agreement. Originally I was quoted $760 for the 41 days, and it ended up costing me just under $800 total (this did require some haggling as they wanted to charge me more).

I also used American Express's Premium rental insurance for a flat cost of $25 / rental (ended up costing me $50 due to the dual rentals).

I should point out that one of the reasons I chose Hertz was because they specifically listed online that Hertz provides "Primary limited liability insurance". See attached picture below from 2014. However, I just went to their site to see if I could locate similar verbage on their current Qualifications and could not locate such verbage.

Mexican Law requires limited liability insurance on all rentals. I believe (i.e. my personal opinion with no legal background or knowledge) it is required to be provided by the car rental agencies, however this appears to be a potential topic of debate at the counter by some entities who are attempting to sell you additional insurance (at considerably inflated rates).

Also of interest are disclaimers stating that if you drive on non-paved roads, or do not park under covered parking, your limited liability insurance may be forfeited...
