Hey guys, we have been planning an extended weekend trip to Floras sometime this summer. How do you forcast it? How does it relate to the rest of the coast, as far as if/when the wind blows? What are the typical wind speeds and times of day for kiting there? What are the good months?

It's usually good from mid-April thru the fall. Forecasts are only good a few days out. I highly recommend looking at the weatherflow data. The wind meter is on the Brady's sail barn, literally 10' from the edge of the lake. http://www.windalert.com/spot/489

The best way is to look up the sight for the bed and breakfast or for floras lake kiteboarding and find will Brady's email which is on there. He can give you a first hand forecast. Anything other than the south wind which you can play with is good this time of year!

I have been on a 14 at about 10 in the morning flying my 9 a couple hours later and I weigh 215. Start playing in the flats and move down the lake to make room for others and the wind is a little stronger down there. You want the NW winds whic are referred t
As to the hero winds down there. You can also hop over the sand bar and hit the waves!! We stay at the koa as it is 5 minutes away and it is where the fog breaks and is sunny most of the time. The only downfall this time of year is the fog. Don't camp on the row under The trees as the evening doooooo will have you waking up thinking it's raining. Great place. Search the forum for tons if insight on the place. Go just north if bandon to whiskey run for a down winder and stop at the wildlife safari between bandon a d langlois for some up close animal viewing. Last time my son got to play with 4 baby tigers. Pretty cool!!
