back from visiting family in fresno,....that place licks nutz

pacifichigh, next time you go in my backyard,...lemme know. i've been eyeing a big section of ride-able terrain in the national park, the pumis desert. my big question is wether you can ride sleds into there....maybe blowhard knows that answer.

good to be back in the northwest!

,
the road goes right up to the crater and the cornice over into it ,so watch the approach if it's white out ,stay high and keep left ,close to the trees for reference .
it would be easy to drive over the edge

Where did you start dude? At the north side by the booth half buried in snow?? Its only a few miles up the road, did you leave the road?? In five hours you should have traveled 2 miles up, then back , so maybe its a big project for walkins. Was it hard pack?? was there wind?? Did you try bringing some rope and hitchhike with a sledder.

yea man,

parked at the booth, we had a gurney sled we packed up with gear (all size kites cause ya never know...). and the snow was pretty soft. the dam snowshoes i had was about 5 sizes to small,...i just sank right thru about 8 inches,....i took em off and it was easier. we got there just to see the sun starting to set behind the hills.

sorry dude
it just gives some thought to the safety of being a long way in on a sled and then have something go wrong ,(it takes a couple of minutes on a sled to reach the fields)
next time we go we'll post ahead and give you a free tow-in
