I can't tell you how many great folks I've met out at Rufus from all over the world that I wish I would have kept in contact with so I just started a PUBLIC Rufus Kiters Facebook Group. This last weekend I met some great folks from Montana who are serious snow kiters too. If you have some love in your heart for Rufus, please join it, post a photo and invite others who love Rufus to join the group. Just type in Rufus Kiters when you are on FB and join in.

Be Stoked!!!

Not totally sure what JP's getting at, but I do love Rufus and I do hate Facebook.

Kite Rufus. Delete your Facebook account....they don't make it easy but it can be done!

Thumb's Up

We live part of our winters in Patzcuaro MX, high in the central highlands, cartel country, plenty of poverty. It simply amazes me how much Facebook is a constant presence in so many people lives, rich or poor. Late night stop at the barrio pozole stand... 6 out of ten people are gazing at their smart phone/facebook screen. Resistance is futile, JP is on, I'm on, assholes and nice people are on. I hate it's pull on our culture, can't stop checking it.
At least I'm still avoiding the andriod & iphone (for now).

Does anyone else see the irony of people with hundreds of posts on an internet kite forum criticizing someone who creates a facebook page to socialize and communicate with other kiters?

Rolling Eyes

I realize facebook is a for-profit corporation, and NWKite is not (as far as I know), but this is like saying it's cool to have a get-together at the beach but if we go out for beers at McMenamins it's lame because it is supporting "the man".

If you don't like the facebook page then don't join it. Why do you have to rain on his parade? Some people frequent facebook and some people "troll" forums.

Spin all you like but if you see a person and choose to not say hi face to face but then do so via Facebook that's superficial & fake plain a simple.

True story which make this thread so laughable...

Then again, Jimbo, do you text the GF|wife and child when there in a another room in the house instead using your voice? Cool

I just read that... it appears that I should start marketing campaign to attract those that are stuck in a rut with their kiting and looking for coaching.

No really sure what point John was making or if I was involved. I don't have a Facebook account was all I was saying.

To those who don't like the Rufus FB group. Simple...don't join it.

ONCE AGAIN: The purpose of the FB group is for people to make connections or stay connected with other kiters they've met out there. I've been going there for years and have met people from all over the world. My intention is for there to be a catch-all place where we all can make connections with the great folks we've met out there. Not everyone is on NWKite nor is it a way to meet people because you don't see their real name or a photo to identify them. If you don't want to make a connection with other folks...then don't join it.

It is by no means intended to supplant NWkite.

JP. I saw you walk by my rig, I was busy doing something and figured I'd catch up with you later. That didn't happen. It was by no means a slight of you. I was hoping you would recognize my beat up rig and stop by for a beer later. I was also scanning the water for you constantly while I was out there because I wanted to ride with you. I think you are on Rally's or RPM's these days right?

As for how I communicate with my gf and daughter...that has nothing to do with kiting and I am going to respectfully ask that you leave them out of this discussion. Very Happy

One last thing: If you don't want to be inundated with messages from FB Rufus group...just turn off the notifications. I just did. I will check it from time to time but I don't need to be notified of every post.
