Tue May 27, 14 6:42 pm camrig line mount + compstick |

I'm considering using this camrig line mount with my 2013 compstick bar and I was wondering: Would that prevent my kite from depowering & flagging if I pulled the release?
Do those green plugs completely prevent the line from sliding through? Would I be able to force it through by pushing the bar while pulling the center line? What if I only used the green plugs on the non-safety line?
If anyone has used one of these before I would appreciate any tips, thanks!

bought one but have yet to use it. i think i saw on one of the instructional videos that you only add in the green tabs on one side, the side that doesn;t flag out when you release your safety..
again, i have not used mine yet

hey guys, the little green plugs were designed to provide enough resistance against the lines to hold the line mount in place, however if the safety is deployed, the line will have enough force to move along the green plug and your kite will still flag properly.
I've tested this on front line flagging systems.

Stringy's line mounts are awesome! When I use it though I am extra conservative. Try to have assisted launches and landings...and avoid dropping your kite. If the lines go loose the camera can twist round the outside lines.

I use the line Camrig as designed (with the green plugs). The whole system can slide reasonably well along the lines with the plug on and will naturally position itself at the right distance based on the angle of the front lines and associated spacing. I would definitely not try this without the plugs as the whole system would have a great chance of dislodging itself from the lines when the kite drops and the lines slack.
The only thing that I would say about this system is that it obviously adds weight to the line and the effect is quite noticeable on how the kite flies and relaunches. The stronger the wind, the less noticeable obviously.
Last comment: I would definitly recommend against self launching from the beach with this system on as it would result in dragging of the camera on the sand/ground. Much better to have a friend help with the launch while minimizing the dragging of the cam.

think they nailed it with the green plug inserts - keeps the tines from catching the outside lines
self launching with it is pretty easy just grab a handful of center lines and walk around keeping tension - this will keep it out of the sand - self landing it does sometimes land/get drug in the sand not good...
good advice about light wind - if the session looks light to questionable probably not a good idea to stack more things against you

I will say that I have 2012 and 2013 compsticks and have put the gopro in the wrong place on both of them (right where the lines cross when you spin) and have had zero problems. i've had my bar spun about 3 times with everything loose and underwater, everything wrapped up around the line mount, and i just unspun my bar and everything was magically untangled. seems like a very good design

I've used that mount on my compstick for many sessions, zero issues.
My only minor beef with the design is that a screwdriver is needed to get the Gopro out to change the battery. When a battery lasts ~1hr, that's a bit of a hassle.

Great thread. Thanks. I've asked this countless times on other forums and everyone just shrugs their shoulders. I had tried it with the green plugs not installed on the leash side and this is no good as the mount vibrates and the video is unuseable (stills are fine, though).
So, good to know that folks here seem to have used all 4 plugs AND deployed their safety and had it work! I pretty much figured I'd have to leash suicide and just pray nothing happened.
