Obsessed

Got a nice Viento downwinder today. We got lucky when another crew showed up to launch our last man. Got unlucky in that someone swiped my anchor point launch rope.

Just a heads up watch your gear. When I came back to get my rope a couple guys were going out. I noticed they left their bags and pumps near the beach, I hope their stuff was still there when they got done.

This has happened to me at Viento too. From now on I use a shitty-cheap Harbor Freight tools throw-a-way carabiner, and rope. Too bad we can't have a permanent device like an old re-bar hooked?

I buy gutter spikes and keep a dozen in my truck with a hammer. They cost 50 cents a piece and I just drive one into the piece of heavy driftwood, then bend it into a hook. No one ever steals them. Occasionally someone bends them over, but they can easily be bent back into shape. At the end of the season, I try to remove them all to be enviromentally friendly.

Question

We did a late downwinder yesterday too and I accidentally put away a couple kite bags in my car to secure them. I assumed they were my buddy's bags but actually only one was, and the other belonged to someone else. Oops! We met the owner later but accidentally swapped the wrong bags! Does anyone know a guy named Richard? Owns a car dealership?

Thanks for posting. Yeah, that was my 8m Vegas bag that you guys have. Rich has the 14m Vegas bag. I'll send you a PM separately with Rich's contact details so you can arrange the swap. Rich will be heading back to Portland later today so you should call him soon to catch him.
