Static line kiting you drag in the water in the shape of a foil??? A quick glimpse of the device from 0.24 - 0.27 called the SeaGlider from France. Makes foilboarding seem like yesterday's news. Very Happy

Best invention ever. Where do you demo/buy one in the states? Looks like so much fun.

In the right conditions it looks crazy fun. You could probably pull it right out of the water with the right boost but in the video it is light wind and Leroy is just flying endlessly.

It looks like kiting with a mobile tether. Tethers are usually kind of sketch.

If you just want to fly, there are other, better options.

Agreed...if they are fixed. Having the tether move with you is unique, albeit potential for a really bad kitemare cluster. Smile

Always. But higher altitude with definite risk. Being on the water gliding like that in light wind seems pretty unique to me, plus you can jibe it. Different line lengths might be interesting to play with and I doubt it would fly clean in choppy water/waves. (?) Novelty for sure but definitely an experience.

You'd definitely want a fool-proof method to quickly & cleanly release from the tether as fast as possible. Things could go south *real* quick.

Maybe you'd want to install a weak-link in the tether line, where it attaches to the pilot, like smart folks do when towing paragliders? Too much sudden pressure on the tether line, and the weak-link breaks. That would help prevent lock-out and other similar conditions.

In the demo video that was posted, it didn't look like the pilot had good access to any kind of release for the tether line. I could be wrong about that, but I just don't see anything obvious. Can you imagine the sequence of events if your tether line gets snagged by a boat for example? Or as chrissmack posted, you accidentally clothesline someone or something...
