By no means a sure thing, but I think there's a good chance that Jones is going to go tomorrow, and possibly go big. The usual predictors are looking to be in place - onshore pressure gradient, significant temperature difference between Astoria and Portland, clear skies, coastal flow going from easterly to southerly, etc.

I wouldn't cancel all your appointments just yet - but keep in mind that you may want to have the option to head out tomorrow afternoon.

And if it does go big, then expect the gorge to be good westerly on Friday...

Thanks Mike for the tentative prediction. I'm under the same impression. Think I will be heading out there around 2 and wait for some wind. If no wind I will just be doing my annual spring beach cleanup. Was out there a couple weeks ago and this year is alot cleaner than usual.

I live up in the Hills of Linnton (2 Min from the Sauvies Island Bridge) and it is WINDY today!! (I logged on just to see if anyone was headed out to Sauvies)

If anyone is going to make the trek out to Jones tomorrow send me a PM.

Boost in NW Portland.

What ya think MikeZ?? Still possible wind push at Jones this afternoon? Debating driving to Stevenson but I'd get there at tale end of wind Sad

Friday looks promising.

Friday looks promising.

It's not a slam dunk today, that's for sure. I was hoping that the southerly flow on the coast would have been more developed than it is now. It can definitely go still, but I'm going to stay put until I have more confidence.

Friday could be good at Jones, but if enough marine air does come in today or tonight, then we might not get a good enough contrast between inland and the coast.

I'd have gone to Stevenson myself sometime over the last couple days, if I'd been able to make it...

Well, the winds have finally turned around at Jones - blowing from the west at 16 mph currently.

I didn't head out, and I can't really say how good I'd expect it to be the rest of the afternoon or evening. The temperatures along the coast just haven't dropped that much (yet), so I don't know how much push there is behind this wind.

Now that I've said that, it'll probably blow all night.

As the others have said, tomorrow could be the day at Jones.

I'll be there tomorrow around two. I think it'll be good. Any other thoughts? Or should I head to HR?

Friday Hood is saying 15-20 mid-day and possibly 30+ early/late afternoon so rolling east is probably a safe bet. I got a late start for Stevie today (3:30) and missed it.

A few of us gambled with the after work Jones session and scored. We had a whole range of kites flying. 10,12,15&17 all on the water at the same time.
