PostFri Feb 21, 14 7:30 pm    Kite repair tape? Reply with quote

While in La Ventana last week I managed to put a couple tears in the fabric my 10 and 12M kites. Luckily, Vincent from Kiteboarding Baja helped me out with some repair tape. Where can I get this and is there a particular kind that folks are happy with? I will be more prepared next time.
Thanks

You live in a boating/sailing town...there should be a marine supply store that sells sail tape. Usually try and pick out color of the kite that needs fixing.

I buy the white roll and it is somewhat translucent when put on a kite.

With free shipping, the roll off Amazon ends up being cheaper.

I keep on of Airtime's repair kits in my bag when I kite. It has black and white sail tape and a bunch of other goodies for other repairs. Nice especially if you travel to remote locations.

Thanks for the replies. It seems that there are a few choices out there. Has anyone used Tear-Aid?

Tear Aid works real well for small little pin holes. It can work for big rips too but once you apply it, it will never come off. It can save a trip for sure but will make the repair more difficult once you get home.

We carry the Airtime and Kite fix tape, you can also find spinnaker repair tape at sail makers or West Marine.

Yup, I use white on just about every other repair I make for this reason. White and black are mostly used. It's kinda hard finding the exact color to match your kite.

Good luck
