Fri Jan 31, 14 12:40 pm Putting Name/Number of Boards? |
|
|
I just got a new twin tip and once again ponder the means to mark it with my name and number so it can be returned to me if I lose it.
This one has beautiful graphics and I hate to mess it up. My real concern is re-selling it . . . in fact, I got my last board used and had to try to remove and cover up the prior owner's name, number - and reward offer. Also, I write my Baja residence on it for winter, and so far that just stays on the board in the summer.
So I tried putting down some clear packing tape, writing on that with sharpie, then covering it with another piece of tape. Altho I haven't tried to remove it I am hoping that I (or the next owner) can peel the tape off easier than trying to scrub indelible sharpie right off the board.
What do other people do - just write on the board? Maybe the board manufacturers should include a place and means to label them. |

I couldn't get the prior owner's name off with rubbing alcohol - not entirely anyway.
That's why I ask . . . |

label maker baby! i made labels for everything; bars, harness, pump. for those "super exhausted space out and leave all your gear at the launch" episodes.
for bars, make a nice long label, and fold it around the o shit handle and stick it to itself. the label is tear resistant, and the good tape doesn't fade or scratch off.
doesn't hold up against thieves though. |

The old surfboard that I bought for $100 has the original owner name and phone number with a single line drawn through it. The name and number of the guy I bought it from with a single line drawn through it. And now it has my name and number. All names and drawn in sharpie and very readable. Shows the whole history of the board. The label maker idea is good - but I kinda like this method too........ |

I use a piece of duct tape and a sharpie. Had it on my board for 4 years now and still can read it and take it off if I want to sell it. I tuck my by my foot strap so you dont really see it unless your looking _________________ Join the CGKA! Membership is only $10! Sign up at http://cgka.net/become-a-member/ |

I use a simple (paper) mailing label with a sharpie, then cover it securely with clear packing tape. It's lasted many years on my favorite TT, and on the two that I've sold it's come off quite easily with soap & water and Goo Gone for any stubborn adhesive. A sharp razor blade comes in handy to remove it - albeit CAREFULLY. |

Something to consider...
One day Barfly's skim board disappeared off the beach while he was out on his surfboard. The next day I see a kid with it...I confront him and he says it's his...I look at the board and see clearly where he tried to scrub off Barfly's name and number in sharpie...BUSTED! |

Sharpie it...The board is going to depreciate anyway but it'll still have $ value.
If you don't sharpie it and lose it...it has no value (to you). |

you can hit up Frenchy and he could hook you up with a custom made sticker with your name and number on it. I've had mine on for almost five years - and its still clearly visible and when I sell my board (its not going to be worth much - but when i do) I can just scrape the sticker off. _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |

label makers work good, or a water proof/plastic sticker and write on it with a sharpie. _________________ http://greenhatkiteboarding.com/ |
