I'm switching from Rally's 9m and 6m to some 2014 RPMs. Getting either 10 and 6, or 8 and 6. Any suggestions from RPM riders on which combo. For those that have ridden the 10 and 8 what was your primary go to size in Hood River? The 10 looks like it has a great range comparable to the 9m rally. Top range looks the same, bottom range obviously better. Just don't want the 10 to be to big and wishing I had a size down, especially if not breezy enough to go the 6. Weight is 165/170.

I've been riding a 10/6 RPM combo for three years now and it's perfect for gorge/coast.
I'm 150 and ride strapless surf and twin tip depending on location.
My buddy rides an 8/12 combo since he's 185 and works well.
Curious why you're switching from Rally to RPM? |

hi Tboz
Last summer i was using a 12, 9 and 6m RPM in hoodriver. Im 150lbs.
probably used the 9m 80% of the time and the the 12m 10% and the 6m 10%...went out about 2-3 times a week.
i was never overpowered on the 6m but dont really like it using it...was often underpowered but not comfortable taking out the 9m...
id think with an 8 and a 6 youd be missing out on alot of med to light wind stuff. with a 10 and 6 there is likely a window between the 2 that would not be good.
id go with a 10 and a 7 if thas an option. id actually trade my 6 for a 7 if i could..
good luck! |

Just getting a deal on RPMs, thats why I may switch. My only options are 10,8,6. Rode the 9,6 Rally last few years. 90% on the 9 until it was cranking. On the 6, barely had to ever depower it. With the top range of the 10 looking similar to that of the 9m Rally I was hoping it would be a pretty good replacement. The range on the 8 looks a little slim especially low end. |

Definitely get the 10M if 90% of your previous riding was on the 9 Rally. |

6 to 10 is too far of a spread. What boards surf or twin? IF only two kites I would go 6 and 9 meters. for the gorge. I went with 6-8-10 last 4 years on rpm, 8 is my butter kite. Ride surf boards only. I weight 165lbs. |

After years of acclimating to odd sizes (7-9-11-13) I switched to RPMs in 2010 and got 6-8-10-12 ... now I guess I could do odd sizing again but I am so used to the even sizes I just ordered a new quiver like my 2011 RPMs 6-8-10-12
IT JUST FEELS RIGHT |

I just swithed to 2014 Rallys from 2011 RPMs this year. Loved the RPMs, but wanted to change things up and try something new for a year.
I found the RPM 10m is the same as the Rally 9m for wind range,
8m RPM is the same as 7m Rally, and 14m RPM is the same as 12m Rally.
I kept my 6m RPM as my psycho wind kite since it rarely gets used and didn't see a need to buy a new kite that might get used a couple times a year.
Both kite designs are great kites, but I will have to side with the RPMs for quick turning and bar responsiveness. Rallys are superior for upwind ability, wind range, stability, and downwind drift.

If you ride in HR mostly you might even consider an 8 and 10. I assume your on a TT and at your weight will not use a 6 much which I guess you already determined. Maybe a 7-10 is the best?
If you ride out east much then a 6 or 7 would be needed I would think. |

Get the 8 and 10....and keep your Rally 6 for the big days.
Sell your 9m Rally to a beginner. They'll be your best friend for life. |

10 and a 7 would be a great quiver. |

How about 6 & 12 Rally's and 8 & 10 RPM's.
RPM's for the sweet spots
Rally's for low end(12) and gusty stuff(6)
maybe? |
