Due to abuse we have had to switch to a invite only type registration system. This may be temporary or permanent.

I would prefer not to have to resort to this but I don't have time to manually sift through all the signups that come in and figure out who is real and who isn't. Unfortunately some people seem to have more time on their hands than me and enjoy causing trouble on the internet.

If you know someone who needs an account, please PM me their email address and I will send them instructions on how to register.

tough call. last summer we went up to squamish for the first time, so i got on the BC forum with a few questions and people were very helpful. would not have been able to do this with "invite only".

that said, i understand why you are doing this and am tired of seeing the turds' posts.

I remember being disapointed we had to register to post from back in the day. which is why I chose registered . Now I have to switch to invited now.

I'm guessing the biggest motivator for this is not the presence of certain outspoken individuals, but rather the increasing number of accounts that are made to spam/advertise random crap and supply links to malware and other crap on the internet. It's been particularly prevalent in the last six months.

Wipika, you're free to start your own forum. If you want to deal with juvenile jackasses who have absolutely nothing to contribute other than their own weird games, then by all means you should start your own forum. The simple fact is that running a forum is work, and PKH and BettyBoarder put in a tremendous amount of work on this forum and get zero in return. Your insisting that they should work to satisfy your needs is beyond ridiculous. They have a forum, if you like it then participate. If you don't like it make your own forum and run it however you wish.

This is not a cultural forum. This is a kiteboarding forum. For that matter, there is nothing cultural about internet trolls. Pathetic losers with nothing better to do than try and annoy others are just that, pathetic losers. I feel sorry for them, and truly hope they'll learn how to actually have a real life. Reading their rants does nothing to help them, in fact it just encourages them to continue living a self destructive and useless life. It in no way adds to culture, kiteboarding, or meaningful discussion of any kind.

It saddens me greatly that it will be so difficult for newbs to get the help they may need. But with trolls responding to newb's posts, it was just as likely that mis-information could have been accepted that ended up with someone dying or being severely injured. Internet trolls care nothing about that because they are most likely sociopaths who care nothing for anyone but themselves and believe that others should work to satisfy their needs.

So Wipika, does any of this sound familiar? You've been a member since 2005, and have contributed exactly one useful post? And in fact haven't posted in eight years; you haven't posted until Dan K and Proktor were banned. Why is that? Why are you so concerned about anonymous registrations being ended? Why should anyone suffer some fool who is to afraid to even identify themselves? This is a place to make connections and friends, hardly something you can do anonymously.

We haven't heard the last of Dan K; I'm sure he's got lots of extra usernames. But he'll get all of them banned eventually, and then he'll be done. Unless of course he wants to identify himself. See Wipika, registrations aren't banned, just anonymous ones. How can you think there is anything whatsoever cultural--or valuable in any way--about the ravings of some coward too afraid to put his name to what he says?

PKH, thanks again for all of the effort you've put into this site. You've created arguably the worlds finest kiteboarding forum and have received exactly zero in return. Please know that your and Nicole's efforts do not go unappreciated. I for one support any decision you may make in the administration of your forum. I really don't see what else you could have done.

Obviously, I love this forum. And while I would say it is cultural, it's good to have the bad apples out so we can all have real discussions, cultural or otherwise but always about how to kite more and better.

Yeah sorry Nak....wipika was the same dude as all the others. He's basically figured out a way to bring back old names from 2005 that were used once or twice. Were trying to figure out how to fix it so he cant come back.

It's a no win situation but it's the only one we can think of for now until he gets bored and goes away. Anyway pm me or PKH if you know anyone who want to join

Do you think he's just hacking the old accounts then? Or is there a bug in the forum software? I thought it seemed odd that this guy had planted alias's all the way back in 2005...
