Easties abound! Shrinkage factor high as the wind chill is 34 degrees (100 degree rule more like 88-90) . Forecast for sun and wind thru Tuesday, however looks like some more nukeage/reverse shunkage out at RR on Friday. Last edited by Sasquatch on Wed Nov 20, 13 12:03 pm; edited 1 time in total |

I thought that was why all kiters in the gorge wear boardshorts over their wetsuits... To hide their little penises. |

No one one really wants to see one's "moose knuckle". . .and when in Rome one usually does as fellow Romans do or in this case, the gorge riders do. I'm mainly a coastal rider and I'm over the exposed moose knuckle thing as it's one more thing to put on, take off, dry out, wash etc. . .etc
However, there are times board shorts with pockets come in handy. Like times when you are wearing gloves and or might need gloves or to take them off and or their are times when the ocean water temps are so cold and the air temp variance is so large that one's sunglasses constantly fog up and so they are better stashed in a zipper pocket that is easily accessible vs letting them hang around your neck as those often can get ripped off your head/neck by getting munched by a wave or a hard crash.
I wish harnesses would incorporate some kind of pocket that a small amount of items can be stored in.
Till this happens, I'll be wearing board shorts from time to time. |

Why dont you wear a fanny pack then? And kiting with sunglasses = kooky. Just sayin. |

Besides squinting from the glare off the ocean waters and looking at the sun in the afternoon and evening sun (North Oregon Coast winds typically in Spring and summer appear in mid-afternoon to sunset time), I wear sunglasses for four reasons:
#1. Cataracts as I both want and need my vision and I want to avoid cataracts as I get older.
#2. Riding on the ocean for 3 to 4 hours w/out sunglasses makes me squint. Not only do I condition my facial muscles in a way I don't like (causing wrinkles and lines), by doing so, I tend to get a headache.
#3. Kind of already covered this but prevents crows feet.
#4 protects eyes from stinging salt water when ripping up the ocean during your session on the water.
And a fanny pack would suck, as they typically take two hands to unzip, it would be around one's waist, potentially getting in the way w/harness and would shift around. Not saying it wouldn't work, but board shorts w/zippered pocket way easier and more safe and less cumbersome. Ie a predictable location of where zippered pocket resides. |

20 = no whitecaps. Wind and current= flats. Camera is downwind of the good winds . 40= fun and all the whitecaps u can handle. Looking forward to Saturday |

Dude, are you all really filling 75% of the space of this discussion on fashion?
That's awesome!!!!!
So JERp, I was kiting there at 2 today, got a front roll right at the TriLon (3 part Pilon?) which you can see in the cam.
It seemed way lighter (I was on a 12 m rpm) than the wind sensors were saying. Definitely less than 20, probs less than 14... A few nice puffs to do tricks on but otherwise hard to stay upwind it was so light.
Cold as shit, but didn't bother me until I had to rescue my buddy (thanks for the car ride Rescue Ron)
Anyway, I'll be back for a better session tomorrow. _________________ surf the san juans |
