				| Apparently the situation regarding swimmers vs kiteboarders has reached the point where your input can be helpful. See this link to Kiteforum and sign the petition. http://www.kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2382581

				| They still need around 300 signatures. Tell Maui us PDX'ers won't be visiting without kite access!
Total BS and hopefully we can effect a change here with enough outpouring of support.

KA'A Point is my favorite but I don't think it would a trip killer to park the wife and kids at the kiddie pool and walk 50 ft. in either direction to launch and land.

 I still signed.

Not sure but I think "3000ft" is an exaggeration on the kite forum post. That would be everything from the life guard tower to the school beach. I think they are just talking about swim area C which is the "fish pond". Maybe it's all of Pro Beach.

 Anyone know for sure?

  	  | Quote: | | As a frequent visitor, and past resident, of Hawaii I am in shock that such draconian rules might be enforced in the Aloha state. The activities which would effectively be banned are safe and bring considerable tourist dollars to the area. Additionally, no small number of Kamaʻāina enjoy the endangered activities as well. Is it possible to get hurt around these activities? Certainly. But such is life in and near the ocean. Shark attacks, broken necks from shore breaks, drownings. Hawaii is no stranger to these tragedy's, and in fact these produce FAR more injuries & deaths than the activities that a few individuals would like to see banned. Should we outlaw surfing and body boarding in Hawaii as well? Should we ban all beach use so as to prevent any possible injury? Of course not, but these actions make just as much sense as enforcing this outdated ban. In fact, Banning all beach use would prevent many, many, times the number of accidents that this action would prevent. So, you must decide. Is Hawaii to be the land of safety Nazis hiding in their bedrooms for fear of injury? Or is Hawaii to continue it's proud traditions? What would Eddie do? |

I suggest more people contact the FAA as I have done - they are the ones that allow the kitesurfers to play around the airport - have the FAA pull the waiver from the MKC and the problem will be solved for the beach users. The State of Hawaii, the DLNR, Maui County and several other agencies will thank us!

Konamax is the asshat Philip Botox or Tampax or.... I'm sure the locals know who he is!

Which may lead one to believe that there may be more than one side to the story. Maybe there were some kite boarders with attitudes playing fast and loose with the safety of other beach users.

				| Wed Nov 06, 13 1:59 am    this guy is def a douche | |
				|
 |
				| people filmed him sending his kids running towards kiters coming in to land, so he could get film of his kids in harms way.
no doubt the original confrontation was some out of line kiter punk who probably could have ended it with a simple apology instead of a Get bent haole, but this guy decided to get even with entire beach culture because someone got in his face. He's a douche who won't quit till he gets his way. His way or the highway. He's an entitled white punk who can't go with the flow, so he wants to bust up the dam and flood the whole island.

Which is kinda my point. Its an island. a really small island. And he's one guy. messing with hundreds and hundreds of guys. some of whom look like this... and when the sh%t goes down.. who u gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS?????

				| Wed Nov 06, 13 2:10 am    oddly some spot on speculation from kookforum | |
				|
 |
				| The following is quoted from interested observers...."Looking at my bank account right now I know one thing - it was intensely drained on my recent Maui trip.... Didn't see anyone race in through Ka'a point anywhere near risking swimmers whole time I was there despite the mega wind shadow at the slick.
You know a quick dip between the rocks (ka'a point), at the end of the slick upwind in the windshadow.... no worries. Using your right to swim in water next to the poo station in the path of hundreds of kiteboarders when it is sooo windy, rocky, murky - delusional waste of time.

Exactly...at any given day at Kanaha, you can hear French, Polish, German etc... in essence a thousands of people from all over the world (not to mention thousands of other from US mainland) coming to Maui to kite on the beach where the sport was born.

They spend money on flights, hotels, car rentals, gear rentals, restaurants and god knows what else, so this whole ban would be an insanity from just the financial/tourist dollars perspective alone.

All this because of one guy who insists taking his family to the beach next to a sewage treatment plant, to swim in illegally made pool and filled with extreme sports seekers; instead of any other family friendly beach this island has to offer by miles.

I hope the common sense prevails and this lunacy ends soon.

The problem is, the media and Fucktard Gimp are making it all about the children oh PLEASE won't someone think about the children, who just want to swim without dangerous kiters buzzing the shallows

A bit of misdirection and a good setup and it's a circus..." I've read everything in the Maui papers, all the douchebags rants and justifications, and it boils down to what has become for him a blood feud... with no payoff at the end. His own little war of scorched earth, cuz even if he wins, he loses, cuz having lived on the islands, I know if he wins and shuts down kiting, he no mo gone be happy haole on da beach.

				| People can swim out from just about any beach on the island??? There is a very limited number of quality launch points for wind sports.
Please do not let this area become exclusive to a small special interest group. It should be open to all public access.
