where to stay in Maui

The wife and I are headed to Maui for a week over Thanksgiving; does anyone have the inside track on a decent, relatively-cheap place to stay there?

I stayed here a decade ago for windsurfing. Its a triplex on the beach at upper Kanaha and has a grassy lawn to rig on with a mostly sandy beach. It's cheap too, like $150 a night because its close to the airport runway but the planes don't fly after 11pm. Bring earplugs if you want to sleep before then!

Without the airport it would be 700 a night!

Stone's place in Haiku. Above Paia. Forrest turned me onto this place.
1 and 2 bedroom suites, clean, nice kitchens, comfortable ($65 - $75 per night).
Great view from your porch looking onto entire north shore including kite beach.
We go every year October, November.

I found a great place to shop for discount lodging. Just put in what area you want to stay in and it will bring up lots of choices. Then, you can narrow the choices by just about anything you want...like pet-friendly, bed and breakfast, handicapped accessible, etc. The best part is that you will save a bunch of money, too. It searches all the same places that the "big name" site do...but you don't have to go from one site to the next to find the best deal. Truly one-stop shopping! I use it all the time and have not found a better way to find a good deal. Smile
