been watching that coastal forecast the past week. rallied this morning and got to seaside after 10. met up with 8 others at sunset to scope things out. too much wind to even make it out of the car without getting drenched/sandblasted.
decided to wait it out and see if it will drop. clatsop 48g68 while we enjoyed lunch.
headed back to sunset only to see it drop. came totally unprepared for lighter winds but made the best of it with Gman.
fun day but man that was intense wind. probably one of the biggest wind days I've ever witnessed.

We came thinking we wouldn't have kites small enough and would be sadly watching from the beach. But by the time we got there our 12's were barely enough to ride.
Lots of walking up the beach and getting pounded by the surf but a fun day over all.

Didnt think it would turn off like that - tho that is very common in the winter southerlies - nuked out 4.5m charging and then a minute later a struggle just to back to the beach before the kite falls out of the sky
The crew was pretty amped to give the high wind a shot but the gusting 68 on two separate sensors was the clear indicator that pushing it could be a very bad idea...
Made the most of light south onshore winds - actually pretty fun when you skim miles of wet sand in onshore winds - the north strip is pretty special for that
Was looking over my shoulder in anticipation of a crushtanic beatdown as the next cells rolled in (didnt come this time)

Glad you were able to enjoy; I had to leave on Saturday but I could see it building (we were staying on the beach in Seaside).
Where were the pics taken?
