pacific high and I ascended the low flat Diamond peak to scout some snowkite potential and celebrate his bday with a slog.
It is a great looking area withbig open bowls in all directions to accommodate
most winds.
The bad is that it will take some good sledding skills and some time. it is no park and ride.
Makes going to most nw spots seem like cake. I will post a few pics later.
It would be a epic camp trip to make the approach worth the while ,along while. |

Registered, or anyone, if you are looking for someone who has an RV (basecamp), access to a sled, and massive stoke for kiting and skiing, please look me up this winter.
I don't know where Diamond peak is, have heard about Helens, and of course Idaho.

Diamond peak on Hwy 58 across from Willamette pass. Oregon.
I need to make a trip To Steens . That is the Oregon Mecca for snow kiting (Potentially).
A NW Kiter needs to have a bit of OUTLAW.
And heres to a good season of snowkiting for all . |

...and for those of you who venture up north this winter... feel free to look me up. As you can imagine we have excellent snowkiting. Everything from massive climbs, to hundreds of miles across glacier fields, to lake riding, to coast riding to kiting with ice skates.
I know Idaho, Montana and Wyoming are closer but each year more and more of you find yourself in AK sometime during the winter.
I appreciate all your advice on my trips south - happy to return the favour. _________________ "I have often regretted my speech, never my silence" ~Xenocrates |

in 2008 we were up there doing some heliskiing and I remember we needed to get back up there to explore snowkiting thompson pass and ice climbing. But Damn it was cold..and I grew up in Minnesota and lived in Ely for a bit(up north). We made a half effort by some field traveling out of Valdez on the right. |
