Add 10mph or so. Gauge is wind shadowed and I believe is at the ranger building.

Here is the same one and it's free:

It looks like the wind really backed off.

They used to have a gauge on top of the pylon. Did they not replace it?

Something is wrong with the gauge. It's on top of the channel marker... I was out in my boat yesterday right by the marker. I measured 15-16 mph and the gauge was reading 5-6. Ikitesurf needs to fix it.

Almost decided not to go because of the meter but saw kiters on the webcam so I went. When I got there just after 12:00 I was surprised to see people out on 7-9m fully powered. I got on my 7m and was fully powered till 3pm when it got lighter.
Was going to quit and then it picked up again so I went back out till about 4:30pm. I was amazed to see it good that late.

How was the wind quality at RR - I was upstream@ 1-2miles at the same time, and it was really punchy/gusty/fluky .

A few of us from the 49th were down enjoying your warm water and weather. A few days at Swell City before the storms, then three days at Manzanita and then two days at Roosters. The gauge at light 66 said 4mph but there where white caps. Tuesday and Wednesday were good casual riding days before heading back north.

Wow MjrKrash you scored, a little bit of everything the NW has to offer Surprised

boardrider, Rooster is always punchy/gusty/flucky.... I actually thought it was better then usual. I was at the east end of the beach. I was on a surfboard and was able to go with a smaller (7m) kite, so I was able to roll with the punches Wink

Sorry guys and gals: the link above and sensor must be a the ranger office which is different from the pylon/ikitesurf sensor. Been kiting since 2003 and have never subscribed to ikite. Yes, there are a few spots that I wished I had data like Swell city and Manzo, and Jones (rarely ever go there; no swell) but just a look from a camera and I can gauge close enough whether it's worthy . . .

"Jones (rarely ever go there; no swell)"

yessss! less people who know...

and it is really a bummer about the lack of gauge info at the north (easily accessible) Coast, especially Manzo and Garibald being out.

Aside from the nice stronger winds it gets, the wide open spaces and driving up to the river, you can have Jones all to yourself ( unless of course it isn't blowing anywhere else). Plus I hate that drive, whether it's from the ocean, hwy 30 or I-5 to hwy 30 from Pdx.

As for the Garibaldi sensor, it seems to work only if its blowing more than 20 mph there...?

The Clatsop Spit sensor is useful: http://mesowest.utah.edu/cgi-bin/droman/meso_base.cgi?stn=3CLO3
