Yesterday I capped off a great session with a lengthy self-rescue that started just east of the actual fish hatchery, and ended with me getting out at the very east end of the Hatchery park. Light blue kite, me wearing a facemask.. . I self-rescued close to the shoreline, but elected to swim further down the river to find a better place to pull out (there were all these "Boundary" signs along the shoreline initially that seemed to indicate private property).
During the whole process, I was never alone. There were always kiters nearby keeping an eye on me, from the time I went down to when I started swimming into the cove to get out. I'm pretty sure Bam Bam was one of them (just a guess). Got asked many times if I was ok... some guy early on asked me if I was going to "wrap it up" which I thought was a good way of checking if I had things under control. Everything worked out fine.... me, kite & board arrived at the Hatch undamaged. Thanks to all who checked up on me, it was quite reassuring! |
