Just curious if anyone knows how the guy is doing that crashed in the shallow water Wednesday evening. He couldn't move anything at first when we pulled him out of the water but was able wiggle some fingers and toes after the paramedics showed up. Scary for sure. Props to all those that helped him and especially the guy that got there quick and was able to get his head above water. Hope all is well!

hey guys, I just visited Tom at Emanuel and he's doing great.
He will be released today and is expected to make a full recovery.
Tom was very fortunate to have the quick acting response so thanks to all the individuals that helped him at the beach.
Feel free to send me a PM and I can pass it along.
He's staying with me for a little bit here in Vancouver.

I've heard that Tom is doing better. Good news. Any idea what happened? Did he jam his noggin in the ground in the shallows?

Definitely a good pat on the back to Justin. Some witnesses came by the shop to tell us they were impressed with how well and delicately he handled Tom while still being attached to his kite and waiting for extra assistance from the other people who helped get Tom to shore.
Steady hands and steady mind.
Tom's a buddy of mine as well so im extra happy to know he was lucky to have such quick and responsive helpers around.

Yes big Props to Justin for reacting so quick!

I was the first medical responder on this and I want to thank all of the guys were helped with this. I don't know who the young man was that held C spine for me, but he did an amazing Job. Every single person on that response team was outstanding and did there part of the job very well. Sorry for barking orders but it is the way it needs to be done in a situation like this. I truly believe that every single one of you played an integral roll in preventing further injury to Tom's neck and should be very proud of yourself for doing such an outstanding job. I spoke with him on Thursday and he is doing amazing! Stringy so glade he has friends like you to help him out with recovery.

I'm back in NZ now and Joe has my number. Keep me in the loop with his recovery and next summer when I'm back in the Gorge we will have to all get together to raise a glass to Tom and all the wonderful people who helped out. You Guys ROCK!!!!

In Gratitude,
Machelle

Good job responding! I guess the kiddie pool locale has its advantages. Can't believe this could happen from the jolt of landing a trick.
