Just got back from Sherman Island and wanted to share some pics. Its warm down there...but they lack coal and people who wear lots of rubber. otherwise its an amazing place and worth the trip if you haven't been already

Brought back a ton of Airush kiteboarding gear for you to demo. Stop by 2nd Winds and see Pepi for details.

sorry for the off topic....

....interesting article on the misconceptions of bird deaths related to windmills, to really save birds we should consider getting rid of cats and windows.
glad you enjoyed Sherman, it is a great place to kite!

hmmm depends on who the news source is:
http://news.yahoo.com/wind-turbines-kill-birds-190145748.html
Wind turbines kill more than 573,000 birds each year in the United States, according to The Associated Press, including federally protected species like bald eagles and golden eagles

get fucked up ,
then they be hating them whirlgigs
Condors have collars on them ,and one just barely missed some the windmills in Tehachapi

"Love the Sherm", as Melokite girl said. Sherman Island, San Franciso area, California. I am staying here for a month or so and really enjoying the kiting. Warm weather, water a little cool. Steady wind, maybe 15-20, on most days. This is a great place to dry camp in May, if not in April. I am told it gets crowded in June and July. Sure beats the hell out of the Gorge for me at this time of year. No barges. Nice little islands to kite around. Generally small chop. Not a beginner friendly place. The rigging area is back from the small beach. You fly your kite while walking a path thru the kite eating brush to the beach. You must be able to sail up wind, away from the shore. There is only a small cove as a last chance to land downwind, before the dike road starts. The cove is used by the windsurfers. There are only a couple of access points to get out on the rocky dike, downwind of the cove. Local instructors, with jet boats, take students way up wind to a small island. Very low cost camping. A little tight in the parking lot for larger RVs but okay. Ten miles or so to Rio Vista for supplies and internet. Rio Vista has a County park with hook ups and a dump station.
Nice to have the NWkite website to hear what is happening on the Columbia.[img][/img]

Yeah it seems the seahawks get killed every year! Not even Russell Wilson can save them! Ha, go Pack!

Yes, very much. The water can rise quite high, so don't leave your stuff on the beach. When it's flooding the water can get pretty flat and also a little tough to get upwind for newbies. When it's ebbing, you can get some decent swell, nothing like the Gorge but little ankle biters to play around on. My favorite is the flat water provided by the little islands. I love Sherman Isle, lived there for about a month or so. It's only a couple of hours from Waddell too.
