Direction sensor is definitely bad. The bracket the vane is mounted in is probably loose, allowing the instrument to rotate during gusts.

I've seen this exact thing happen in my work...

Been watching it the last couple of years above the falls. I drive by it daily and If i had a waverunner I would be all over it so we could launch and have the wave runner grab our kite so we could come back on the dock. N and E winds make that section look good. Maybe we could just boost the falls:-)

Sensor is reading the normal Jones direction now. Lucky people out at Jones - I am jealous of you all! Especially after getting skunked yesterday at Stevenson, Dalton and Rooster. I got to all 3 spots just as the wind was dying off. I almost kited Willamette Park in West Linn out of desperation yesterday. The wind was nuking there on the Willamette just above the falls. If there were not so many people on the dock sunbathing - I might of done it! Kiting above a big waterfall made me a bit hesitant also............... Smile

I saw this vid of some kayakers doing it. Maybe just take the fins off your board and hope there is wind at the bottom.

We paddled this years ago. Pretty much the most brainless easy drop you can do. the boyles down below are tougher than the drop. I truely want to kite the river but need a wave runner at our disposal.

thanks for posting the link!!
