Going to be in the Spokane area for the weekend. I was checking the weather report (not looking for wind) and the forecast showed 20-30mph... Looking for some local advice on possible kitable areas. Anyone want to ride tomorrow? |

I'm from Spokane, YOU need to just move !!!
Its just a no wind area. We windsurfed at Sprague Lake but its only a spring time location, you just need to move to Portland, Vancouver or Hood River !!! |

Well unfortunately moving is out of the question...so Im guessing many trips to the gorge! Took lessons last year down there and got hooked! Now I got gear with no where to ride |

I live in the CdA area and the pros and cons of the area are like this: CdA sucks for kiting BUT you are in the epicenter of kiting, if you will, in the sense that 4 hours in either direction puts you in some pretty sweet kite destinations. Drive 4 hours west and you are at Roosevelt, my favorite spot in the Gorge hands down. Drive 4 hours east and you are in the Georgetown/Mt Haggin area, which is a snowkite destination and a stop on the snowkite tour. Moving to the Gorge, which I am actually doing for the summer, is great for summer but not for year round kiting. Mize...leave your gear in Tri Cities and L29...don't despair and PM me if you want to hook up.

I will be making the trip out to CDA some time in the next two weekends. I plan on bringing my gear (14m kite). If theres wind it would be awesome if someone who knew the area wanted to go out for a session. I realize the wind is flukey and probably won't get out but if there is wind I would hate sitting on the beach. I am kind of used to the inconsistent breeze of nw washington but I will kite whenever possible. With that being said I am somewhat new to kiting but have been sailing skiffs, lasers, and moths for a while now and am not a complete kook. |

Another option for wind is Sandpoint, north of Coeur d'Alene about 1.5 hrs. The Pend Oreille river is deep and cold but the Sandpoint area by the long bridge does white cap consistently. Good luck. |
