Hi,
This past weekend was really fun. I didn't get to go out to Arlington, but I did manage to get a session in on Sunday at The Dalles. It was psycho gusty with 15 to 30mph conditions, classic near east conditions I should have kept driving, but I wanted to kite, right?

While we were all gearing up and getting launched my buddy had an issue with his chicken loop and his kite flew away.

System checks for safety:
1. Check your leashes to make sure they are loaded. Test them and rinse them off so that sand is not built up inside thing a ma jigger.
2. Check your chicken loop and make sure it is loaded. Test it and reset it and rinse it off so the shit works when you need it too.
3. Check your harness and make sure the safety is loaded. Test it and rinse it off so it doesn't stick or bind.
4. Check all your safety systems and clean them off.
5. Check your wet suit and make sure your rinse the pee out of it.
6. Check, Check and recheck.

Take care of your safety systems and they will take care of you.

Happy kiting,
ron

Because he is a damn idiot. Interesting that his "buddy" had another gear issue.

Please people, stay far far away from this guy as an instructor.

yeah it was probably "psycho gusty" due to the wicked bend in the river at El Dalles. Have you even looked at an aerial map of what it does there!

I like how non-chalantly this is thrown out, like it was a $5 kite from Target. I can't imagine what the backstory is on this.

"Oopsy, my kite flew away, wheeeee!"

Windsurfed The Dalles Beachfront Park only one time back in about '91 or so. Shear hell, shithole. I cannot imagine any wind dirction that would clean up those gusts.

But, The Dalles is a kite-able for sure. It's a bit swirly but doable if you have boat.
See you on the beach, boys.
Cheers,

Ron

We should have a kite festival at The Dalles for it would be a great spectator event !! Like MMA, roller derby and more all rolled into one

Charge a cover and use the cash for barbeques and keggers on the sand bar throughout the summer!

I tune out NWKITE for baja winters... But when things start to warm up in the gorge, I always log-in to see the enlightenment that has taken place over the wet season. I look forward to Dangler's no BS insights and yes even the Bulae-bashing. Nothing new here.. I had a buddy in high school that was very similar to Ron. He would say the stupidest things just for the hell of it, and then when others took offence, he would continue the talkie-talk. Then when he got his ass kicked, he would look up all battered and bruised and say "F#$% you, you F#@%^&in F$^%" and get another good one right to the mind. We all be in the bleachers yelling "Stay Down !" but no, just like Bulae, he'd rise up from the pool of blood and take another head shot before dropping. Gotta admire the spirit.
Does the $599 KitemareRufus.com package include the reacharound, or is that extra?
