Tue Apr 09, 13 12:25 pm los barriles or la ventana for month long stay dec/jan |

turning 40 in feb., planning to rent a place for about a month dec/jan to celebrate my last days of 30's. Been to LV, i think i know what thats all about. I've been told that Los Barriles has some waves and is also very cool, but I havent been there. Im wondering if it is consistently windy like LV, what the wind quality is like, what the riding is like, if the town is any fun, etc. I am going to need to get the house soon, so, any feedback is appreciated. |

Barrilles way more of a party town with tons more to do nite wise. Bought the same wind, usually need one size bigger than Ventana.
Mellow chill-Ventana.
Party like a Rock Star- Barilles with a side trips to Cabo. (around an hour, hour and 1/2 to Cabo) to party with Sammy Hagar on your birthday. _________________ Kite Repair? AND LABRADORS Call me.(509) six 37-four five 29 |

Went to Barriles for the first time and had a great time, it sounds like there's much more to do there if the wind isn't cranking--saw lots of people paddling/fishing and mtn biking on the 2 days that we didn't kite. Lots of restaurant and hotel options also, and it's a closer drive if you fly into Cabo.
You'll be on a size larger there, but on big days they get good swell which you don't get in LV. Also, Cabo Pulmo and la ribera are close with good swell at the latter as well.
I could be wrong, but was told by a few locals that LV is good for learning, but the better kiting is actually Barriles. |

Variety is the spice of life. I like both, but LB is so close to other things and has a bigger town vibe. |

if it's a good wind year you'll find more kiting variety in LB, if it's a light year (like this past one- well, right up till I left of course!) LV is a better spot. The best part is they're only an hour and a half apart- so you can visit the other spot. Either way you'll find friends and wind. |
