Hey do you remember when I mentioned leashes? I think the nwkite knowledge base at that time was, and still is, that, "Leashes are unsafe and that you should not use them because you will get hurt."
Now some lady comes on the forum and says that she want's us to be safe. I'm guessing that if we want to make sure we, kiters, continue to have access to beaches here in Oregon we should not disregard her advice. We should listen and be receptive to the idea that we don't have the right to limit access of others or take away their beach going safety, whether they are aware of it or not.
If this guy did something unsafe and put me or my family in jeopardy I would talk to him. If this Mom takes time to write on a public forum then we should make an effort to listen to her. For whatever reason she felt more comfortable to write it here on NWkite. To ridicule her and make fun or her race is wrong, embarrassing, and might affect our access to beaches later on down the road. I'm not going to apologize for the racist douchebags who vented their ignorant blabber, but I will tell you that racism is fear based, and not funny.
When you, I or Dan K. fly a kite and the lines are above, potential victims below, or downwind, this is a potential risk. Sometimes there is no choice, but the risk is still there and the kite is above the unsuspecting person. It's a risk that should be minimized and not taken lightly. As a kiter on a public beach we have more responsibility to be safe because we take up more space. Just look at California and you'll get the picture. Beach access could change very quickly if one of us does something stupid. And from this post their are some very stupid things being said in a racist tone, which is even more stupider.
I hope that Mom with 4 kids knows that most kiters on this forum are not racist, reprobates, who feel entitled to say stupid shit because they just don't care. In fact, most kiters I know are middle aged Dad's who hate crowded beaches and drive for hundreds of miles, or often fly out of country, sometimes Asia, to just have access to a really uncrowded beach.
Mom with 4 kids has a valid point and it would serve the kiter community at large if we listen. She asked us to be safe on crowded beaches, right? I think I can do that by making sure I am not flying my big ass 17( I have one too) while riding my doyle(slingshot board) too close to unsuspecting beach goers. Yea, I can do that.

Nice forum with plenty wordy folks willing to pick on little people. I'm not 4kids mom but I'll bet she's talking to other folks who go to the beach. And my guess is she is going to say things that will likely not be nice about some of you on NWkite.com. My guess is she will say things to people who may vote and things like that.
Then, when your spanking yourself for not being polite because you can't use a beach you won't seem so cool. Your punky little attitude won't add up to all that cause you aint in HR no more.
