The bottom line for asian mom is try to stay upwind of kites and respect kites. Teach your kids to respect kites and you stay safe long time.

proper grammar would be nice.
etiquette is everybody's responsibility. most problems are easily sorted out if you just talk to the person.

First off i was on the beach that day he was impressive to watch doing flips all over the place and also 20 plus foot jumps. don't know if it was a doyle board but he had a blue board and a big white kite with 17 on the side!
THAT BEING SAID! he obviously can fly a kite, and he was making it look easy. I have kids of my own and they loved the show!! You should maybe next time leave and quit complaining about it! I might check back on this post cause i do have some pictures to send him. He was a bigger guy with allot of facial hair and very friendly to talk to.
PS my kids loved the show they still talk about it.

I have been the jerk jumping over/around civilians in the water (in Florence where the water is 50, not in the warm waters of the gorge) and I was a jerk for being that way and blowhard was right to call me on it.
(Aside - is Dan K a coast rider? I assumed this was a Gorge "beach". None of the taxpayers on the OR coast are ever going to understand kiteboarding so "learn to respect kites" is a brain dead idea).
Guess what - if there are civilians in your sweet spot - then you better find a different sweet spot. Launching and landing your choices are perhaps limited, but once riding don't expect the taxpayers to stay out of your way... keep them upwind or go kite somewhere more remote.
End of story. World doesn't revolve around kiteboarders. There isn't going to be a "it was his fault" discussion if your kite gear messes up a little kid. The authorities are going to assume it's your fault (like statutory rape) so deal with it.
Not getting on my high horse as I've been a jerk in the past. But let's be real where the pecking order is for society at large. "Don't hurt kids" is on top, "kiters have fun" is way, way, way down the list.

All it takes is some bad perception about the dangers of kiting to the public and some do-gooder politician will pass some bad laws.

You make very valid points in a rational, informed manner. And if English is. for you, a second, third, or more, language, I compliment you on your grasp and use of English in conveying your thoughts and concerns.
I'm sure it was a distressing encounter for you and your family to prompt you to go to the lengths you have. And I very much thank you for your efforts to go to the source, the riders themselves, to encourage respect and safety Its all too easy to lodge complaints with authorities, which invariably lead to restrictions or bans.
All it takes is once, one guy, one accident that could've been avoided, or even just one person getting upset about the actions of another, and this beautiful thing we call Kitesurfing can go bye-bye.
End of Sermon, Amen.
Now here's a riddle to brighten your Easter Sunday:
What do you call a person who speaks several languages?
Multilingual.
What do you call a person who speaks two languages?
Bilingual.
And what do you call a person who speaks just one language?
AN AMERICAN.

Ok i have no idea where to start on this!
First i know when women see me they usually get flustered and have no way of expressing there feelings! so they do crazy things like sending me naughty pics or if they have no chance at all, handling this 240 lbs of twisted steal and sex appeal of a beast they call screwey, they might post something instead! I Know what you are thinking my hair is just like my kiting skills, FLAWLESS and prefect! But it wasn't tell i got a doyle surfboard Until my confidence and airborne technique went trough the roof!!
So let me ask you why if you felt threaten by my masculinity and Superior Intellect. WHY the hell would you stay on the beach and expose you kids to my perfection!! (what a great MOM!) First off i had someone launch me, second off all your eye site might be off cause im a thousand times better then your daddy at kiting! I think your comparing me to him? With that being said yes maybe we should clear everyone off the beach. I have lived and breathed this Oregon coastal waters for a long time! I have spent more hours in the water at roads than you could possibly fathom. I have surfed, skied, kite, you name it for over 2 decades now. WHAT!! yes it is true, maybe next time you should bring your kids to chuck y cheese and stay the hell away from what everyone say's is the "kiting capitol of the world", do your research next time.
Another note maybe next time you should tell the kiter your fears, instead of hiding behind a computer. You would be astonished to see what happens when you ask nicely. Sence its Easter I was easy on this reply. (this is me being nice you can ask anyone.) Please note i have no problem expressing my feelings on the computer or on the beach. And sense im in the giving mode i will attach a sign pic to make up for all you confusion.. I wish you well and have fun at chucky cheese!
So all the haters out there post what you like cause I hardly ever come here, I do have a life. So you to can be a tough bad a$$ on the web. Thanks jj for telling me about this. I got a kick out of it glad i had some extra time today on the holiday to read and reply. thanks Brandon for the pics.
P.S. bjc who quoted "jerk jumping over/around civilians in the water" Just so you know, i jump over kiters not just civilians!
P.S.S. will not reread hopefully this reply make sense!

Your concerns are noted thank you for caring. Your concerns are valid I hope you feel safer out there on the beach, I will respect your space if you respect my space. I hope you can feel validated and ignore the others who are not representing our sport well.
Thank you

Ha Ha the most mature and lucid post is from a ( I believe) guy thats not old enough to drink!
John Perry, awesome kiter, mad respect! Looking forward to seeing you on the water this summer.
BTW, if that is a huge strapless air over top of the peanut gallery, I'd stick around to watch. And cheer.
Cheers,
Bo Dangles

Is it just me, or are at least two of the posters on this thread most likely the same person? Don't feed the trolls...
