another Maui question - the forecast seems really light for the next week - http://www.ikitesurf.com/windandwhere.iws?regionID=158&siteID=235&Isection=Forecast+Graphs. how reliable is this forecast? Are there any human forecasts or chat rooms for Maui?

thanks

I am currently on Maui and have not had any wind last week and the forecast is not looking good. Trade winds are forecasted to come back this Sunday 24-Mar-13. Not looking for the near future.
I have been getting my SUP on and have been having allot of fun figuring out the wave action. Very Happy

Im going to maui the first week in april and have been nervous about the wind. People mentioned that kihei has had kona winds, so you might want to watch the kihei sensor too.

I've found Magic Seaweed to be most accurate - wind and swell.

http://magicseaweed.com/Hookipa-Surf-Report/1244/

I've been amazed at their ability to nail the forecast 5 days in advance.

You can add +2 or +3 to the wind speeds for Kanaha.

In April I will be on Oahu. If there's no wind, its OK, because I will be on Oahu.

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I just got back from a week on Ohau (Kailua) with the family. I got totally skunked! I was all signed up for lessons so I could hopefully finally put board and kite together and we had bupkus for winds from March 8th through the 16th! I never saw a kite in the sky until the last day and only then as I was leaving for the airport. The winds gods sure did punk me on that trip.

It was a good trip none-the-less. My 10 year old daughter got out on Diamond Head beach for an awesome surfing lesson (thanks Cris of HWS) and she got up and was riding big waves on her second wave. Pretty primordial event as a dad sitting on shore watching your kid get up and ride like a champ on her first lesson. She had a good head start because she can snowboard, wakeboard and wakeskate and she is a competitive swimmer. She was hanging with the big dogs and catching wave after wave with only one wipeout.

We also hiked up to Maunawawili Falls and my 13 year old daughter and my 10 year old jumped off the falls. Again, pretty primordial to see them show up old dad with their lack of fear of jumping. The water was cold up there so next time we will make the hike with our shortie wetsuits and we will be better equipped to stay longer in the chilly water of the falls.

I got some yesterday at Old Mans.
I rocked an 11 meter and saw allot of my Homies from HR.
Sure did feel good to get on the water and smack the S#$% out of some small waves.
Came within 25 yards of a breaching whale and here baby. I turned around for fear of getting landed on. When I came in another kiter came up and told me that he saw a tiger shark at lowers. Im sure they are out there we just dont see them.
Hopefully we will get some today.

Just starting to get a hint of trades in the backyard. Nothing big though.

Hopefully it works for you.
