I was wondering if anyone has had experiance with the cation kites. There direct priceing prices on there website seem extremely reasonble. I currently fly some cults, and would love new naish kites, but I can't afford 2500-3000 for new kites.
So I may have to jump ship.....Any experiance or thoughts with the brand would be helpful. I mainly park at rufus, spend my summers there.
Thank you. |

Don't fly your cation kite into an anion kite or both kites will be neutralized and you will have to swim back in. |

Steve,
Feel free to contact me and ride one for yourself. Give me a ring 503-893-041zero if you have questions.
I switched over 4 years ago for the same reason you are thinking while living in Australia. I have been super happy with the the durability, performance and the gear overall.
I am in Portland
Cheers,
Ryan |

and Tony (aka Sarge) swears by em. Also check the Ikitesurf So Coast forum for good info. My impression is they're a fairly small loft and don't produce a ton of kites. Quality over quantity. Those boys have been in it since the beginning, and they sure know what works in the waves.
BTW cation works in the subatom world, but in the ocean, ALWAYS USE CAUTION!!! _________________ Kite Repair? AND WINGS Call me.(509) six 37-four five 29 |

My most flown kite is my 2008 Caution Mayhem 9m.
It's a solid kite for sure. I got it because of the low cost as well (I bought it used for like $140) but I've been happy with it. Had to repair 2 of the LE strut valves with stick ons.
Things I like about it:
- super stable, gusts aren't a concern
- tiny bridal, never tangles (I hate Naish kites giant bridals)
- amazing top end, I can hold down my 9m when people are pumping 7m
- looks great (I have black/grey) and people are always asking me about it
Things I don't like about it:
- Lacks low end power
- the bar sucks (I don't use it, get the new blade unibar instead as they use the same colours and it's a great bar)
Also keep in mind I don't do wave surfing with this kite, just powered riding. The design goal of Caution is a kite for waves.
I've just switched to a 2013 Blade Trigger, which is a great kite and you can get a very comparable price on it if you get it from a good shop. I don't think the Trigger is a good wave kite though but I wouldn't know. Last edited by Slappysan on Thu Apr 04, 13 9:16 am; edited 1 time in total |

Take Ryan up on his offer to take one for a ride.
When I lived in Oregon I didn't see (m)any of them and first rode on a demo day back in 2008. It was a 7m day and I rode everything I could that day, I liked the ride Caution gave the best out of everything I tried. They gave me great support and made me a brand ambassador.
I do think they are sized a smaller than other brands. My 9m Caution was significantly smaller than my 9m Sling.
I liked the simplicity of the bar, and the fact that it was a push release back when most kites were pull release. Push is safer because if your lines slack momentarily you can have difficulty releasing (before your kite powers back up and yanks you), plus with a push release it made sense to me as pulling to get rid of something just didn't make sense to me, I think most manufacturers are onboard with this through process now. _________________ www.cautionkites.com

Hey guys, sorry for jumping in late. Thanks for all the support on the kites...
Update on the 2013's...
- much more low end.. in the past, other companies were not putting "actual sizing" on their kites, but instead they were putting projected sizing on the kites. If you ever laid one of them on a Caution you would see what I'm talking about. So we changed our sizing to match the other brands.
- Bar is much different then in 2008.. Our 2013 bar is simple yet very safe.
- Just want to clear up one rumour; yes Caution kites work very well in the surf... but they are not "only" designed for the surf. They are designed for the overall user.
We would be stoked to get more riders in the NW, so let us know if your interested in getting on Caution.
Thanks,
Poul |

I have flown a few Caution kites and was impressed. Huge following down around Santa Cruz, and even back on Lake Michigan where I started there were some die hards.
I say go for it. _________________ i like to kite the board |
