I'll be in Orlando for business in January, and was thinking of trying to fit in some kiting if I can get time to drive to the beach.
Any suggestions?
Is this an ok time of year? What's the wind speed like? Any locations appropriate for someone just joining the intermediate crowd?
Thanks! |

you can get some kiting in @ the causeway in Cocoa bch 45 min away.
It'll be fullsuit cold and from the North (wind, cold fronts). Kites from 8m-12m |

I second a vote for Cocoa beach. My longest kite session to date was at Cocoa Beach in the Banana River. The water was so butter smooth and easy to kite that I didn't realize that I was out there for 6 hours! Kite the Ocean with side onshore winds - and the Banana River any kind of wind - there are launches on both sides of the river. Big kites are the best bet for Florida. |

third vote for Cocoa. The spot is called the 520 Slick. 321 kiteboarding is close by. You could call them for more advice. The water is warm but the air can be cold. I am guessing the water will be about 70 degrees. Enjoy.
