Friends remain "open to legal settlement discussions" with the Naitos.
What exactly does this mean? Legal settlement usually means someone gets money. Im no legal expert, but how in their wildest dreams, to the friends get off thinking that they are entitled to some sort of settlement? If anyone is still supporting these con artistists I BEG YOU, DO RESEARCH AND MAKE YOUR OWN DECISION. DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYTHING THAT COMES OUT OF THE FRIENDS MOUTHS. _________________ I heart dangling |

Last night's meeting was interesting. You can read the full letter from the Naito's here:
http://portofhoodriver.com/waterfront/CP/Naito%20Letter%20Sent%20102912.pdf
Basically, the Naito's have decided they'd rather find a solution that involved a cable park, than one that doesn't. They've offered some modified terms, that are direct responses to the "Plaintiffs of the Hood River Waterfront" objections. You should have seen the "Plaintiffs" squirm, it was pretty great.
I don't understand these "Friends". They're name is a misnomer, they kicked our ass in strategy by bringing in different faces that would appeal to the Port, and then they threw it all away in the end game. Now the only thing they have left to hold onto is this crazy, wild-eyed attempt to block shit from happening.
I would encourage anyone who doesn't like what's going on in their local government to think about, and propose a solution, rather than just make yourself a wall that blocks things people are trying to make happen.
There is a vote scheduled for Nov 14th. This vote is about determining if the Port is willing to enter into negotiations with the Naitos about a cable park, or if the Port is flat out not interested. I think it would be best to enter negotiations, and write the cable park into an overall vision for our waterfront. However that might be, short, long, wide, small, full cable, system2, etc. We have a chance to really think this through and create a solution that works for everyone, regardless of what the "Friends" say... I don't think a single one of the "Friends" has seen a cable park with their own eyes... They're all forming their opinion based on Google searches.
If you really want to see this cable park happen, tell the Hood River News what you think of these "Friends" using the form on the Hood River News' website. Remind these "Friends" that it's not just the Naitos that want this cable park, it's you, your friends, and your children as well. Tell them that they don't get to hold your Waterfront hostage, symbolically at gun point, because they don't like what you want.

It still cracks me up the age gap here. It's a damn shame that most of the local kids that will be using this facility had to stay home and do homework last night, rather than attending these meetings and making their voice heard. |

I think the cable park would be great to have in HR! Hopefully it gets built! |

Well, if you can get through Derek Bell's song & dance routine, it looks like you nailed it. Sounds like the "Friends..." are looking for a monetary settlement... unbelievable...

Edit: Here's the quote if you don't want to wade through the garbage:
Derek Bell: "Negotiations without confidentiality in this case will not even get to the table let alone fail. Without trust I don't see either party sitting down at this point. And yes, money is often part of a settlement when lawyers are involved. " |

I keep getting emails from the "friends" group. I wrote a reply that was..well...not so nice. I will never buy anything from Big Winds again. _________________ Be kind to Kooks |

wow, great news.
So assuming I don't misunderstand, this means that public use of the basin could take precedence over anyone wanting to ride the cable? Or is it shared use?
I guess i'm not sure of the exact implications of the lack of a buoy line.
thanks,
Kevin |

lack of a buoy line would mean anyone could paddle through the cable park while it is in operation. |
