Rolling Eyes

I never met either of my Grandfathers, they both died of Polio. Hear about Polio much lately? Gee, I wonder what happened to it? I travel to third world countries where children die in droves because of the lack of vaccines. I spent a month this Summer coughing my lungs out because I didn't update my Whooping cough/tetanus vaccine. If I had gone over to my very elderly folks before I knew I had it, It probably would have killed both my parents. Only a very lucky and very odd set of circumstances kept me from visiting my folks at the wrong time. Yeah, you're right, vaccines are silly.

Reality check: You can get away with a really ignorant attitude about vaccines because you live in a place where vaccines have obliterated most of the diseases that ravaged people 80 years ago. And still do in some places. And will again here if too many people fail to get their vaccines out of ignorance. Having an ignorant attitude about vaccines doesn't just place yourself at risk, it places those around you and the entire community at risk.

Polio is gone--for now--because almost everybody got vaccinated against it. Along with a lot of other nasty bugs. Vaccination works when everybody gets vaccinated. The disease can't get a foothold. Maybe we should stop working on an AIDS vaccine? I guess even if one existed, nobody should get vaccinated. Does that sound smart? Of course not, almost everyone knows someone who's died of AIDS. Since we've seen it firsthand, everyone understands it's bad. So now, read some history books and understand what life was like before vaccines. Or talk to my Dad. We can learn from history, or we can be utter fools and wait until we learn firsthand. Those who fail to learn history are doomed to repeat it's mistakes. (Apologies to George Santayana.)

That said, I absolutely believe in natural cures for many things, tendonitis being one of them. Use what works, just don't fail to do something you should do. I dated a young lady a long time back. She got breast cancer. Should have been curable. She listened to an ignorant idiot who convinced her with "statistics" that high doses of vitamin "A" were just as effective as chemotherapy. She died. Fucking tragic and completely unnecessary.

Taking Glucosimine, MSM, Alfalfa and the like have been shown to have positive health benefits. And hell, even if they don't work they can't hurt. Might as well try 'em. But think long and hard when opting to take "natural" medicine in place of a scientifically proven therapy. Really, who are you going to listen too: the guy who got straight "A"s in school and studied medicine for years, or the chump who couldn't finish college but somehow "understands" how to heal the human body after reading a book?

whoa there vaccine boy !

Just because this technique worked for Polio does not mean we should start injecting every new toxic shit laden concoction big Pharma markets to us just because it says "vaccine". it's a big $$ bonanza for them for sure and I'm not buying it.

Still, I am hopeful that one day there will be a stupidity vaccine and a douchebag vaccine.

Just thinking of needles being injected into my elbows makes me want to faint. Owwee! No Thanks, I'll continue with massage/stretching, ice and elbow braces....and a shot of tequila. Ha!

I don't think I can swallow all those horse pills either. Maybe break them up into applesauce? I'm quite a baby. Even as wonderful as a Lortab can be for severe pain (had surgery)..I had to mix them in applesauce.

I have to do something because I'm on a sabatical this winter in Padre...probably the last time I can take so much time off to kite and I want to make the best of it before I'm tied to a cubicle again.

Oh, absolutely agreed. There are vaccines you should take, vaccines you shouldn't take, and vaccines you should take based on risk. People need to rationally decide what goes into their own bodies based on serious study. You have to own your own medical care, which too few people do. Refusal to take vaccines that are recommended or required should be based on knowledge though, not on paranoia.

I agree with melokitegirl completely. My wife has the same problem with her elbow, Rebound is recommending surgery. We'll consider that, but certainly it's wise to try other possibilities first.

I believe in "Natural medicine" and believe it has a place as an add on to scientific medicine. However, when some "Naturopath" or whatever recommends vitamins over Chemo for cancer, that individual should take both the Stupidity and Douchebag vaccinations...

Perhaps I shouldn't have typed "I beg to differ" lol. Sure there are always sides to a coin. Of course there is endless info on the web for pro's and con's. I can't remember the last time I was vaccinated and you won't catch me standing in line for a syringe full of cow pus, dead rat carcasses or whatever it is they put in them. Of course if I had a chronic disease maybe my tune would be different,? maybe I'd be standing in line hoping they had just one shot of their latest FDA approved slightly tested vaccine left. So yes vaccines are fantastic they have saved a lot of lives and we should pump our newborns full of them. Next time I won't bring it up, promise.

It is the most painful procedure I've ever endured. If the issue can be resolved in Natural ways e.g., alfalfa pills, stretching, PT, that's excellent!

It just wasn't working for me.

Good luck and heal quickly!

Glad it seems to be working for other people, I think next kite season will be the real test. My season is over anyway. Wylie I think there was a different cure for bursitis but I guess it is a similar ailment?

Haha. Do not get into this. It will cause mass mental pain and discomfort. Possibly followed be anal bleed and heart failure, but its cool. Haha. Love it. Cannot believe this has come up again. Too funny. Love ya all and wish best health to all.
Good health starts with what ya eat. Love your local farmer.

K. Seriously mad. My elbow is a wreck...it's been 4 months! Those pills make me have sounds that a gal shouldn't have in public ... Trying acupucture next week. Good Gravy this is not fun. Calling myself "Two Tack Tina" because I have to come in-it hurts so bad.

Sorry about that Melo! Sad My wife's elbow and my knee are in the same boat with you, so post up if anything works out. (Please!) I've been thinking acupuncture as well... as far as the sounds, try taking a beano with the pills.

Seriously, blood platelet injections really work! Yeah it hurts but not being able to kite, mtn bike, weight lift, squeeze a bottle, or sleep is miserable!

Do a bit of research on it. There is also a less "invasive" procedure that my PT told me about. It uses a giant laser machine that sends pulses for 15 minutes to the affected area. Unfortunately insurance doesn't cover it and my Doctor, who has the machine in his office, said it is really expensive. Apparently it hurts during the procedure but stops after it's complete (unlike platelet injections). I would have chosen it but it was a cost issue. Sorry, I can't remember the name of it but I could find out if anyone is interested.

The success rate is similar to Blood platelet injections.

Amy

watch out for "big pharma". that gawd-damned reduction in infant mortality is resulting in some serious over-population problems.

i try to stay clear of all big companies. i drive a car some hippie made in his garage. i only fly on a locally owned airline. and my medicine is locally grown food.

i used to drink pineapple smoothies but then i realized large companies were involved in the freezing and transport of pineapples. no more of that! big pineapple is out to get ya! bad enough they almost elect a president... didn't fool me dole from kansas, I knew he was the mouthpiece for big pineapple.

i cruise the internet on a locally made computer. it only renders things in 1s and 0s, ( like the matrix) so it's hard for me to follow along. still, they're locally made 1s and 0s, i feel good about it.

got to go put the kids to bed now. they're locally made - in fact, i made them myself, with the help of a friend. we stuck a bunch of cow puss and stuff in them when they were born, they seem to be doing allright.

OK, Probably going OT again with this, but.... 3 weeks ago I got a cortesone injection into my very painful shoulder problem. Blessed relief, can finally sleep through a night. Pain has reduced at least %95. Hopefully this is allowing some healing process to begin. I'm still eating alfalfa tablets and doing my (gentle) PT.

I CAN'T WAIT ANY LONGER! Ahhhhh. The wind is perfection. Gonna take a pain pill, wrap my elbow up tight and go. Might as well. If it pops, it pops. Anyone know of a good sports med doctor near Padre? May go get a cortizone shot or try that ultrasound treatment.

I cannot take credit for the following but a little internet seaching of Infraspinatus Muscle gave me the info...

Front of Shoulder Pain is the hallmark symptom for the infraspinatus trigger point. Trigger points are knots in your Instraspinatus Muscle. These knots are caused by stress which leads to shortening and stiffening of muscles. Popping shoulders are evidence of joint stress caused by trigger points. The pain feels like it is deep within the shoulder joint, causing many to believe the shoulder joint itself is damaged. Infraspinatus Trigger Points are ofter misdiagnosed as a rotator-cuff injury.

Symptoms are:
Painful to reach behind back (like trying to get wallet out of back-pocket)
Pain raising arm above head
Pain pushing outward
Pain keeping you awake at night...Infraspinatus Trigger Points can be a double-edged sword when trying to sleep on your side. If you lay on the affected shoulder, your upper body weight compresses the trigger points and produces pain. If you lay on your unaffected shoulder, the affected shoulder hangs down infront of the body and places the infraspinatus in a prolonged stretched state, aggravating the trigger points again.

To remove the knots, massage your shoulder blade with the help of a tennis ball against a wall. Do this a minimum of 20 strokes several times a day. Correct your posture (hanging shoulders or flaring shoulders is bad posture).

I see a chiropractor about once every 10 days for deep massages and adjustments in my upper back and affected shoulder area. Dr recommends more frequent visits and I agree but my wallet is what's holding me back.
