Sun Sep 30, 12 9:36 am Celeritas 5'8" or 5'11"? |
|

I'm looking at purchasing a Celeritas strapped version. I weigh 175#s and would like to use it with a 7M up to a 12M... maybe even a lightwind 16M.
What size do you guys recommend? 5'8" or 5'11"? I hear the 5'11" seems a bit wide.
Thanks

I'm 175 as well and use my 5'8" celeritas on 6m to 14m kites. I love it as a lightwind board. It's versatile- freestyle, jumps, waves, strapped or strapless, highwind or whatever. It doesn't turn as well as my true surfboards but is great fun blasting around for a speed session. And it will turn just fine as long as you stomp on it. I never think of needing a bigger board. 5'11" would be for 200#+ riders- just my opinion. |

I'm 6'3 and 180. I just bought the 5'8". I've ridden in in 6m and 12m conditions.
It's the most versatile board I've ridden.
I own 2 other surf boards, 5'8 and 6'2" which I may never ride again.
I have teh 2012 model and it's very loose, turns great, surfs large and small swell, and tracks upwind best of all.
Hard to believe one shape does it all but this one does. |

I am 185lbs and own both. The 5'8" for sure as it is such an great board for many reasons. I use the 5' 11" as my last resort light wind board. I don't like the way it turns at all on the waves. It is very wide compared to the 5'8" |

I have the all carbon 5'8" from 2010 and it still looks and rides like it's brand new.
6m - 10m and like the rest said, incredibly versatile. I paddle surf it too which is sick to have one board for most conditions, surf to kite, big to small waves, gorge and coast swell it does it all.......I'm 150 lbs. |

I think a lot of kiters have a tendency to ride surfboards that are way too small for their own weight. I'm 6'2"/205 lbs and ride a 6'4 rounded pin. If you really want to surf (and not just kiteboard while near a wave-there is a difference!) having a bigger board so you can actually surf with the kite fully depowered is an important consideration. There are very few guys who can actually surf a 5-8 thruster well in any kind of surf. Ride big and rig smaller! |

Find the smallest surfboard you can paddle in on that doesn't bog down as soon as you hit the flat, kite with it.
For most, it will be fat, fishy, or >6'. |
