I'm planning on moving from Eugene to Hood River and am looking for recommendations on how to find a place to rent. Craigslist doesn't really seem to cover the area too well, so how should I go abou finding a place. As I understand it... one does not simply walk into Mordor?

Nothing fancy, just a spot for me and the world's laziest dog who has no interest in ever going to the Event site.

Most of the people that I know who rent do it via the word of mouth system so as to bring in like-minded renters in regards to recreational interests, but here are some regular avenues that our staff use:
http://classifieds.gorge.net/
Bulletin boards at - Betties and Ground Coffee.
Or
Calling some of the Real Estate Offices, as they will also either handle or refer rental opportunities for their customers.

put an ad in the classifieds section.
be specific - how much you want to pay and what you need - 1bdrm, pet friendly, etc.

I will be looking forward to your "I am a local Hood River long time resident" post. These posts usually start approximately one week after you move to Hood River. In which all tourists are a pain in the ass everywhere from spit to the local pub. In about two months you can claim that you were born and raised in the Hood.

Check out rental's in The Dalles as well as Da Hood. If you go to http://gorgenews.com/

This link will connect you to Hood River Paper, White Salmon, and The Dalles.

You'll get more for your money and have more sunny days if you live east of the Cascade Shelf.

Cheers,
Ron

There is a reason there are a million houses for rent in TD and its hard to find something good in the hood...

Renting in HR is pretty hard, but it's possible. Good luck and welcome to the area!

We've got an apartment for rent in Stevenson that is super dog friendly. Has a Tiki bar and a pool. Plus grass at the launch site year round. Smile
