Just a friendly yet important message to pass on to users and guests of the Hood River Sandbar.

When teaching friends :
1) Please do not stand in the middle of the Kiddie Pool to teach - it prevents anyone else from freely using this area due to your bystanders and kitelines in the water, and if you did not notice, none of the professional kite instructors teach there because it is simply very dangerous for beginners due to how shallow the water is. **Please remember that exactly one year ago we had two very serious neck injuries and one shoulder injury occur at the Sandbar due to the shallow water.

2) Please give a little room and respect to the professional instructors teaching lessons when you're teaching your friend: Yes, the sandbar is for all to share, but these people are working and their students are paying for a lesson. They do their best to steer clear of recreational users, so please steer clear of them, or even better, recommend to your friend that they take a professional kite lesson.

When Flying a Trainer Kite :
Please do this down wind (East or to the right) of the designated kite launching/landing zone. Your trainer kite may feel agile and quick, but the big inflatable kite that the others are using are not, and your kite is not going anywhere, except staying in one place causing others to have to move around you.

At the end of the day, harmony on the Sandbar is 100% about user courtesy and trying not to be a negative interference for other users whether they be working or playing.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for also understanding when someone approaches you and politely asks you to please move to a more appropriate area to teach your friends or spouse.

When riding in the slider park: Dont short tack people or cut in line. Dont send your kite. Dont ride into the landing zones when people are riding into the features. You can wait two seconds and let someone hit the kicker before crossing the landing area.
