Thu Aug 02, 12 7:40 am **BOTG Amateur Event Moved to August 18th!!!** |
|
|
Due to the poor wind forecast for this weekend we are going to postpone the BOTG amateur event until August 18th with a backup day of the 19th.
We had considered only pushing out one week but due to the MaiTai event that is in town next week we would not have been able to have Sunday as a backup day as they have an event in Stevenson on the 12th.
My apologies to those riders who are in from out of town that will not be able to stay for the event on the 18th. It's disappointing but trying to hold an event on a no wind day or with light easterlies just doesn't work.
On the bright side this give those riders who will be coming another two weeks to practice their tricks.
Tony

Considering competing this year. Looked at the site and on registration all I see is the waiver. Do I just bring that with me and sign up on site if I am going to compete?
EDIT: just noticed it in the other thread. I guess you can ignore this. _________________ Captain kook; always wrong. Last edited by Youkai on Thu Aug 02, 12 9:23 am; edited 1 time in total |

Yeah, really sorry about messing up the folks who have traveled her for the event but the forecast just doesn't look good for the weekend. There may be a couple of hours of ride-able easterlies at Stevenson on Saturday but based on years past we need about 6 to 7 hours of solid wind to get all of the heats off. If it's blowing from the west we can get by with 15 mph average but coming from the east we need it to average 20 or better.
Because we end up with a lot of gear donations from the manufacturers and local shops we really want to have a good competition for giving it away and not just hand it out for make do relay races on the beach.
We planned it for as early as we could this year but we got hit by the heat wave bullet anyway. Hopefully the 18th and 19th will be better.

Youkai: yes. I've been looking for a free, easy way to do online registration and haven't come up with anything yet. Bring the signed form and the registration fee and you're in. Takes about 5 minutes the day of. We have space for as many people as want to show up.
