Landboarding spots on the Coast of OR

I finally got a montainboard and want to know good spots on the OR coast that have a wide beach as I am not familiar with the coast. Are there any landboarders on this site? So far I found sunset beach and possibly Beverly that might work for landboarding. Thanks for any input.

Agate beach is pretty huge and flat, lots of wide open area with hard packed sand

Sunset beach is a great place for buggy or land board! I have not found anywhere better. If there is a minus tide during clam season it gets crowded, otherwise usually plenty of room. Ft Stevens is the other end of the same beach; has lots of sand, more people. I have ridden 18th st beach at seaside, and once in a while manzanita but crowds can be more of a problem there.

Thanks for the extra input you guys. We are driving to newport and up the coast from there so I will be checking every and any possible spot to rig up.
That would be sweet if Agate beach is accessible for me to ride. We will be on the coast for a week and I can't get my girl to jet up quick to sunset beach so hopefully we will find other spots that work on the way but it does look like sunset is the best spot for it, now i just need it to be windy when I arrive there. Thanks for all your input, I will let you know how it pans out.

from Gearhart ALL the way to the spit and would have come back again if we didn't have fam to spend time with.

Great LONG spot at low tide.

Westerly 10mph is great to learn in and set up boosts in. Today looks perfect.

Only funky thing is, when you boost, you boost into the dry soft sand and have to walk back to the hard wet stuff (still fun).

It's all about tides, no?

When the tide is quite low, it's pretty much a highway all up and down the OR sand, as near as I can tell.

I guess I will have to get a tide chart for times. I was curious what size kites landboarders use on the oregon coast? I am bringing my 5 and 9 and I figured that would work. I am not sure of the resistance during landboarding but I would imagine its the lesser of all.

Yes...I watch the tides...anything less than 3ft is do-able...

Looks like fun.

Do you ever change directions? Or is this dryland training for the OR to HI crossing?

By highway I meant hard and wide like a highway. There never seems to be much vehicular beach traffic in OR, even in times+places where it is legal. There's one beach near Coos that I recall getting some machine churn, but mostly, that's crazy-long-reach-Herb is as much power as you'll encounter near the surf.

Plenty of boats around. It would be fun to rally one as a safety, do a distant buoy round trip.

Must be a do-able buoy for this....

I preferentially use a foil kite for landboarding as it is so quick to set up - 7.0 for the most part unless it is raging and then I usually cave because at speed the damp sand is like concrete.

Having to coordinate the tide, wind and time of day is definitely a downside to the sport.

sweet video, man you rocked it down that beach with no one in site. You looked decently powered up, what were the winds blowing that day?
Yes foil kites are the way to go, I have always wanted to get one for snowkiting and now this I might just have to get a couple.

Thanks you guys, Manzanita and Sunset went off. A great time and I really enjoyed landboarding. I can now say I am a snow/land/water kiter, lol.
