Epic day friday at jones, saturday coast and sunday back at jones. Pulled in Sunday at noon and it was already blowin 9m. Went to ponds played around and set my Goal to get to the bridge. Started up wind staying powered near the hillside. When I got to the point the wind shifts to the opposite side of the river. About three green buoys up the wind get's lighter and moves even closer to the side.

At this point I'm pumping like crazy and can see I'm not going to make it to the bridge. I can see a old fishing boat on it's side and tell myself I'm making it to there. Up river a little more and I can tell the river is moving faster closer to the shore. On my way over just looking at the water in front of me I see this white, blue, green sturg about 6ft long. Scared the crap out of me. Up river a little more and there's at least 4 more smaller ones.

After pumping the crap out of my 9m I make it to the boat. Not saying I'm the first but I bet I'm the only one on a custom with no fins. To make it to the bridge I think you would need 9m+ conditions and put up a 12m to have a chance maybe even on a light wind board or a surf.

Love kite exploring and wanted to share the stoke
Peace out

I cross the bridge all the time....and think....how possible is a Ponds to Chinook crossing?? Much grande huevos and a buddy on jetski... but dream we may.

I could see...waiting for a good Southwest day and just going for it.

Enjoyed the read, thanks for keeping me dreaming.

Steve

tight! i always get over there, get upwind of the point on the island, and start having my fun. never thought of getting up there. must've been really fun coming back. last couple days on that have been what kiter dreams are made of. Dont think there is better wind, maybe as good of wind, anywhere when that side goes like it has been. super clean, close gust to lull

I've. Ever rode past the point. I have gotten up there several times and expierence the sudden lack of wind that hits there. There is a gated housing area on Oregon side that I tried kiting off of once right at that point and with the wind direction changes and current I just couldn't reach the bridge. Tried like hell though. Sounds like your ride was pretty epic and a day you will always remember.

What could do is have a downwinder from jones beach to willow grove. Stella area is fun. There is one fluky patch but overall it's doable. If people wanted to do it and pitch in on gas we could have support.

I'm game Nate. Downwinder sounds great. I pulled into Jones yesterday around 12:30 and it was perfect 9M all day.
