Barely white capping = 12m
Quite a few white caps = 9m
White caps beginning to spray = 7m
Now you have $60 to spend on beer.

Agreed. Used to aways carry a Kestral when I was a windsurfer and kind of new to this. Now with kiting, a handheld gauge is pointless. Unless it's a bot standing at Jones and I'm 2 hours away trying to decide. _________________ CGKA Member

liquid smoke on top of the white caps and the sand hurts when it hits your skin (most often experienced in the Fall at Rooster) = 16oz cold beer enjoyed in the parking lot wishing you had gone to the ponds for east wind instead. |

there's an app for that!
It's for i-Phones.... it's called Wind Meter.
it uses the built-in microphone and is actually pretty accurate.
and it cost's $0.99 cents. |

I have this for two years already and never use it after the first few efforts . Seems accurate or close if you can hold it right . Look at the trees , waves , etc. Similar results and it's free !
