Seems like an unusual time for it, anyone know the dates allowed?

The reason I'm curious is because of the six sturgeon fishing boats blocking the hell out of the river just off Stevie launch. (I'm sure I wasn't the only one buzzing the boats with a WTF look on my face.

When they realized a bunch of Kiters were coming out, most of 'em moved, except for one bozo who even cast a lure at me, opposite to the direction they were fishing.

He told me I don't own the river, (it's true, I only rent) then tried to hook my eyeball,(to use as bait?)

Overall, super fun day at Stevie, good crew out!!!

There was as sign at the Hook saying it was a short-term thing (maybe a couple of days) for a couple of weekends.

Some dood caught one while I was watching and he had to release it. it was only 28" and looked huge. While he was releasing it, it was upside-down and looked just like a shark. Anyway, he said you could keep 36" fish for these special days. I think the usual size you can keep is 52" or something.

This couple was nice, but looked like those "people at walmart" photoshoots online. hehe

the reason you put sturgeon on their back when you are taking the hook out is that the fish are paralized when on their back. We used to fish for all oversize and the only way to get the big hook and line out was to roll them on their back and put your arm way down in that nice mouth and get your hook and line out. The only weird thing is that their mouth is like a blood pressure cuff on your forearm which is a little weird feeling. YOu tell your buddies dont let this thing roll over or my arm is going with it. Pretty cool prehistoric fish!!!
