Well another birthday is coming up so there are a few of us heading down to floras for the weekend. Anyone planning a trip down there?
Anyone is welcome!!!
Also what are the best sites for wind/weather predictions for that area? If it turns out the south coast is a bust we may head to Roosevelt. |

your best is to call Will down at the lake or email him and he will give you darn accurate two-three day forecast. Ikitesurf can give you a ballpark but Will can do you better. last week forecast was not looking that great and we had two nice days on the lake last weekend.
plus the station is down right now. I think will said they might be doing an upgrade. not sure but just email him or give him a shout. top notch guy!! |

| I camped down that way for the first time at Cape Blanco state park last year. What is the situation with the small camp ground on Lake Floras? is it a reservation camp ground or just first come first serve? Does it fill up pretty fast on random weekends or only holiday weekends? Thanks! |

hey there. i was down at floras last week and it was pretty empty, even on the weekend. its first come first serve. its an awesome place (aside from the guy on the riding mower at 730AM). bring quarters for the shower, theyre 1.50.

The best $1.50 you will ever spend. The shower has great pressure.
It gets pretty cold camping there. Make sure you bring a puffy. Also-the firewood they sell is pretty wet. Kindling is a must bring or at least a hatchet to make some. Those starter fire cubes are like gold.

Just FYI I'm planning on leaving early morning Saturday from Beaverton (6-7am) driving down there, maybe come back late, or stay over night and ride a bit on Sunday. Probably come back very late on Saturday.
If anyone wants to make that long of a day trip I'd be down to have some people hop in my xterra for the day trip. |

depends on the source. Ikitesurf is showing wind in single digits for Friday and low teens for Saturday with a 40 - 60% chance of rain both days. One source I found has sun forecasted with some good wind. You may want to call or email the guys that teach down there for a forecast from the locals. I have no idea how to gauge the forecasts down that way. Forecasts for Rosie do not really look that much better.............. |

looks like another marginal weekend, but still contacting the guys down at floras will probably be the best bet.
Then again we all know the wind forecast for more than 3 days out is usually inaccurate.
Still bring on the 20mph SOMEWHERE PLEASE!!

| wunderground has 10-15 winds forecast for Saturday, 5-10 Friday and 5-15 Sunday. I'd definitely call.. |

Day trip to Floras Lake from PDX. Stoke is the last word I would call that. GAY is the first word that comes to mind; waste of resources comes in a close second.
If your down there, might as well spend the night and get a second day of kiting in. If Floras Lake doesn't deliever, go south to Pistol River. If it is going to be windy anywhere down there with 10-15 forecasted winds, then Pistol will be blowing stronger. . . |
