If the cold water, large swell, strong currents, pounding whitewash and jumping seals were not enough to worry about while kiting the Oregon coast - add 70 foot docks floating randomly from Japan tsunami! Just imagine - kiting along minding your own business - you crest the top of a large swell and you are just about to hit this thing!

If we can get some sunny days before they tear that thing down, someone totally needs to get some video lauching off that thing into the surf.

After reading the article... I think it would be stupid to tow it off to the trash or destroy it. I think they should tow it to the Newport water front and use it as a cool dock expansion. They can even stick a cool-ass brass placard on it indicating that it made it all the way across the pacific after the events in Japan. The biologists can get out there with a pressure washer and some bleach and kill all of the potentially invasive crap that's on it.

I'd go down to Newport to see that. I could stand on it and drink a beer. I love weird ass shit like this.

Yeah, worth keeping around for historical value. Unless that's just the first one and there's tons more crap on the way. I read that it could even be put back into it's intended use. So many knarly Asian critters crawling off that thing!

I think it's only fair that we give them something in return...
